Wtf.. he’s gonna be swinging upwards the whole fight. How the hell is he gonna hurt him. Only way he wins is wrestling.
Think it wasn't always great for DC. Couldn't hand-trap / clinch as much once people started going to the body. And his head is easier to kickIts so weird only HW's can be severely shorter than their opponent. Every other weight class, MW and below you really have an edge being taller and skinnier.
I wonder what it is.Its so weird only HW's can be severely shorter than their opponent. Every other weight class, MW and below you really have an edge being taller and skinnier.
how tall do you think he is? i remember he said, he is 5'5I'm sorry, but there's no way he's 5'6.
Yep he is 5'6" on Tapology but anyone that short is very likely exaggerating by at least an inch so i'd say 5'5" maximum.how tall do you think he is? i remember he said, he is 5'5
Heavyweights dont tend to have the speed of foot that lighter fighters have. Even a tall lanky heavyweight is still not going to be able to move and chain defence together fast enough, it is to do with physical proportions.I wonder what it is.
Is it the skill gap? Heavyweights just aren't as good so you can get away with a less than ideal build?
Or is it due to the physics of guys that size? The KO power that shorter fat heavyweights have tends to be insane.
I don't think 170 lbs would help, or even 155 lbs. He'd even be at a huge disadvantage at 145; can you imagine him vs Zabit, Kattar, McGregor, Yair.. Absolutely dwarfed. He realistically needs to go to about 135 lbs.Yep he is 5'6" on Tapology but anyone that short is very likely exaggerating by at least an inch so i'd say 5'5" maximum.
He has far too much bodyfat to be fighting competitively at 185lbs and I'm sure that Cormier's influence in the UFC is the reason Deron Winn is there in the first place and is still there.
If Winn loses, he should definitely be cut. But he should have made lifestyle and diet changes to get down to 170lbs, just almost eliminate carbohydrates and do a lot of cardio training, the guy simply doesn't want to, I'm guessing a lifelong poor diet is basically the reason. The only way I can see the UFC giving him even ONE more chance is "It's CUT now or one more chance at 170lbs. You choose...."
Yeah, Winn doesn't even look wider/ thicker. He's just straight dwarfed haha.I'm honestly amazed that these two weighed in at the same weight. They look at least 2 weight classes apart.
my bet is that he is, anyway, gonna get cut. Maybe in the next 2 weeks.I don't think 170 lbs would help, or even 155 lbs. He'd even be at a huge disadvantage at 135; can you imagine him vs Zabit, Kattar, McGregor, Yair.. Absolutely dwarfed. He realistically needs to go to about 135 lbs.
Winn is so talented. Based on his skillset I thought he was going to be a champion. But he's just biting off more than anyone can chew being 5'5" fighting at 185-205 lbs. Kinda sad his UFC career should be as an elite fighter, but he's going to get cut with the career of a trash-tier fighter. One of the bigger wastes of talent in recent memory.my bet is that he is, anyway, gonna get cut. Maybe in the next 2 weeks.
As much as Dana White and Co. like to do favors for friends (Cormier) there is a limit and I think Winn gets cut, Weidman, Rockhold, some other well-known names. They're about to have a clear-out, and someone like Winn probably just isn't gonna survive, even if he wins this fight today.
