Elections Democratic Road to 2016 Primary Thread

All I can say to Democratic voters as primary season approaches is - vote your conscience. The democrats have significant structural advantages in the national electorate this cycle and there is literally no need for them to nominate Hillary.

I think people are far to optimistic if they think Warren could easily get elected. If you think Warren could win the GE, then you easily should believe Rand could too.

Yeah, the best realistic-but-still-optimistic scenario for me is to see Hillary go up against Sanders or Webb or someone to the left of her in the primary and reeeeeally get a scare.

She'll still win and she'll still win the presidency, but it'll- hopefully- pressure her left.

Personally, I'll be voting Green Party or something similar, as usual. Texas isn't anywhere close to being a battleground state yet so might as well support smaller movements.

Most people probably discussing this are more knowledgeable then the average voter, but this poll is interesting. Wonder what the voters will do.

On another note. Why Warren? Let's go and pick someone more progressive then obama. .right.....

Uhm yes? Obama is not all that progressive, unless you are comparing him to his right wing counterparts.

Obama is center-right.

She's not a woman of the people. What kind of a heartless dingle is she? Parks in a handicapped spot.

Democratic Party Chair Says Clinton Will Get Primary Challenger
Hillary Clinton may be the only Democrat officially in the race for the White House, but the head of her party doesn't expect it to stay that way long.

Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz of Florida, who doubles as chair of the Democratic National Committee, is so convinced that there will be a contested primary for the presidential nomination that she has has begun planning for "a series of sanctioned debates that we expect our presidential candidates will participate in," she told C-SPAN's Newsmakers program on Friday. Referring to Bloomberg's poll showing that Democrats want a challenge to Clinton, Wasserman Schultz said, "I expect that voters who believe we should have a Democratic primary will get their wish."

Is she driving and thus parked there? Or is she just getting picked? As former FLOTUS does she get SS detail and are they doing the driving and thus it's a security issue or is it campaign staffer?

The more I hear about Hillary, and the tone I get from the coverage, the more I'm convinced that she's not going to win the nomination.

Call me crazy.

But when has the MSM ever been so critical of their presumptive nominee, with late night talk show hosts making jokes at her expense, and two SNL opening segments that slam her just as much as they did Sarah Palin?

Never. Period.

I'd bet money that at one point that Elizabeth Warren is going to announce with a shit ton of fanfare. Yeah yeah, she still says she's not going to run, but it's a tease. I doubt she'd want to run in another 4 years against a Republican President. And in 8 years, the polish will be off her appeal, she'll be old news.

I'm not psychic, but if Hillary IS the nominee, might as well start predicting what the next 8 years of a Republican President is going to be like.

How much money you want to bet? Warren ain't running for President. Not now, not ever. She also turns 66yo this Summer, I assume you thought she was in her mid-50's?

MSM is jumping on Hillary because they've decided to take on the role of primary challenger against her. SNL lampoons her because she's the presumptive nominee, and nationally known already from her years as FLOTUS, and as SOS.

Only way Hillary isn't the Dem nominee is a health issue, or some scandal she is stupid enough to have stepped into in the last 8 years. She was vetted out the wazoo in 2008 run and nothing was disqualifying, and I have to believe she still had her sights on running again so didn't use the SOS office to fill the Clinton Foundation coffers, but than who knows with the Clintons.

I believe Warren when she says she doesn't want to run, she knows she'd be torn apart in the GE, Conservatives would be thinking she was Joseph Stalin by November. It'll be Hillary, and I like O'Malley and Webb, but they both know what's up. Neither has the Obama charm, and the only real issues they can try to gotcha Hillary on are Foreign Policy and maybe Wall Street. Neither guy fits neatly into the VP slot either, but they could get a nice appointment if they don't mess up Hillary's run.

Possum lives in the same state as me, imagine.

I think she could be dethroned by someone like O'Malley or a leftward Dem with real charisma. It happened once, it can happen again.
