Clinton, Sanders Blitz Iowa With State
750x-1.jpg

It was the not-so-calm before the storm.

Anticipating a chaotic January in Iowa ahead of the Feb. 1 Democratic caucus, Hillary Clinton and Bernie Sanders wove their way through rural towns on opposing sides of the state on Tuesday in final pre-Christmas visits. Clinton was on the east side of the state and Sanders was on the west, but they both had the same goal in mind: persuading undecided Democrats and turning out those who've already made their choice.

I want the person to win to be the dem with the best chance of winning the WH, for the simple reason of Supreme Court justices. Hilary for all her flaws is that person.

Webb Attacks Clinton With Eye on Independent Run
When Jim Webb quit the Democratic presidential race on Oct. 20 amid low poll numbers and a minimal debate presence, the former Virginia senator left open the possibility he'd return for a White House run in a different political guise. Now he appears to be edging closer to making good on it.

On Saturday morning, Webb used Twitter and his Facebook page to attack Democratic front-runner Hillary Clinton for her handling of Libya during her time as secretary of state.

Bernie Sanders Flirted With 100% Marginal Tax on the Rich, Maximum Wage
-1x-1.jpg

Vermont Senator Bernie Sanders distanced himself from the Eisenhower-era top marginal tax rate of 90 percent during last week’s Democratic presidential debate, but as he prepares to detail his support of democratic socialism in a major speech Thursday, documents from his past show him supporting an even higher rate of taxation on the nation's highest earners.

In several articles dating back to the early 1970s, Sanders is described as supporting a top marginal tax of 100 percent for high earners or the establishment of a maximum wage.

Bill Clinton to Hit the Campaign Trail in January
-1x-1.jpg

The Big Dog is about to hit the trail.

Former President Bill Clinton will start campaigning for Hillary Clinton in January, she told supporters at a party after the third Democratic presidential debate. “Starting in January, I’ll have my not-so-secret weapon,” she told supporters gathered at Milly’s Tavern in Manchester, New Hampshire

“We’re going to cover as much ground in New Hampshire as we possibly can, see as many people, thank everyone who’s going to turn out and vote for me to try to get some more to join them,” the candidate said. “Bill and I know we really cannot do this without all of you.”

Bill Clinton to Hit the Campaign Trail in January

hi again Lead Salad,

i'm wondering if Trump's newfound hatred of Mr. Clinton and his sexual escapades will generate more churn for Donald. its an arrow that, for reasons i don't understand, other GOP candidates haven't fired yet.

Hillary's border crisis
90

As the federal government braces for what could be a record-breaking flood of refugees in Texas and Arizona this spring, Hillary Clinton is having a border crisis of her own.

Last week, a Department of Homeland Security source leaked word to TheWashington Post that its agents would soon begin deporting hundreds of immigrant families recently arrived from Central America.President Barack Obama had repeatedly warned the most recent tide of migrants they would face certain deportation, but the news — coming right before Christmas — jolted the Democratic field and prompted a Trump Twitter victory dance.

I find it interesting he has shifted to Hillary Bill and Bernie as of late. I'm not sure if this just because she brought him up in the last debate or it's a calculated move to start focusing on the other party. Last debate, he was far less hostile to his opponents aside from Jeb which I don't think people even see as party infighting cause Jeb isn't even a frontrunner.

Also, other candidates have fired, the media just hasn't covered it as much. Christie constantly bashes Hillary. Rubio and Cruz have also taken shots at the other side. It's just more newsworthy when Trump insults people for some reason.

hi Mr. Salad,

no other candidates have made such robust attacks on Bill Clinton and his grim past with women.

i think its the result of Mrs. Clinton's spirited exchange with Mr. Trump over the "schlonged" comment, along with Mrs. Clinton's non-substantiated claim that ISIS was using Mr. Trump's rhetoric for recruitment.

i think its a pretty smart move for Mr. Trump in his attempt to burnish his bona fides to the GOP electorate, particularly the non-college educated base that Trump appeals to (its a non-wonky, non-policy attack on the Clinton's that all Republicans can understand).

Smart move by Trump because it gives the impression that the primary is over and he's nominee ready to tackle the GE.

Also, I like that Webb is considering an independent run. This should have been the year that prominent candidates ran on third party platforms.
If nobody big carves out a 3rd party run this year, then my big prediction (drum roll, please).... is that 2019 will see big names on third party tickets.

He knew what he was doing with the Schlonged comment. Every comment he makes, he trusts the media will go overboard on it so he can backtrack a bit and make them seem like the dumb ones. The rapists/criminals comment got backed into "you don't think criminals cross the border?". The muslims in New York turned into "You don't think some people celebrated?". Always bait with him and the media doesn't care cause it's ratings either way.

Webb could be a decent deal cause of Virginia. If he takes some of Clinton's vote, thats a toss up state lost.

Trump definitely is shifting from the mentality that it's him against party leaders to him trying to be the party leader. The last debate showed it. He was humble/thankful and way less hostile.

Jesus Christ, in the link second sight posted you've already got people calling to execute Hillary Clinton, normally the calls for execution don't start until after the election is over. If the far right is already this pissed I can't imagine how unpleasant they'll be if they lose the election.

hi there Carlos,

well, to be fair to folks on the right, Mrs. Clinton is going to be the POTUS for almost the next decade. they might as well get their hate going now, rather than wait 'til later.

One of the reasons some people preferred Obama in 2008 is that they thought the right would be more willing to work with him. LOL! The fact is, whomever Democrats nominate will be viciously hated by the right. That's just something that the winner will have to deal with.

Attacking Bill just makes Hillary more sympathetic since she was the one cheated on and stood by him. Also usually spouses are "off-limits" - now things might be different because Bill is a former president, but I bet other spouses of candidates will be fair gamed because of the attacks on Bill. And another issue is EVERYBODY knows about Bill's side dishes and he still has sky high favorability. I think he got by on the cheating by in large because he cheated with less than hot chicks - so it wasn't like he was using his power to score LA Dimes's, but was chasing Boise Nickles - so odds are he was a sex addict and/or probably in a long time sexless marriage.

Also Donald has been married 3-4 times now - did he really not have any women on the side himself? Does he really think his current wife married him for love or his good looks?

I would be highly entertained if Hillary throws that in his face during a debate.
