Sanders raises $33M in final quarter, $73M total for 2015
90

Sen. Bernie Sanders raised $33 million in the final quarter of 2015, bringing his total for the year to $73 million, according to a release sent out by his campaign on Saturday.

More than 1 million individuals donated more than 2.5 million times to the Vermont senator's campaign for the Democratic nomination, according to the release, with Sanders ending 2015 with $28 million cash on hand. Sanders’ campaign touted its outreach efforts to small donors, with an average donation of $27.16.

Still very competitive fundraising

I'll add to this by noting that $33 million is more than any republican candidate, and is only beaten by Hillary.

Hillary got an incredible $55 million this quarter, and has (raised?) about 115$ million. Huge warchest, and its being turned into a big organization very quickly. There've been a lot of articles about this campaign being very cutting edge in terms of tech-implementation, which is where she was outworked last time.

Cruz raised $20 million, for a total of 45. Carson got $23 million, but may as well be burning it, since, as an example, he spent 9 million in october and only got 9.5 million. Rubio got $6 million. Trump is getting ready to do his first adbuy, but I can't find how much he raised.

Dems are splitting donations two ways, GOP splitting theirs 6-7 ways. Would be interesting seeing total Dem vs total GOP numbers.

I don't get what the big deal is about 2.5M donations - so your 1M donors made two small donations of $5 a couple of times and that's supposed to be a big deal? If I'm a Hillary donor I should donate a dollar one thousand different times rather than a $1000 one time donation?

Also regarding Hillary vs Bernie - Bernie is basically spending in only three states, whereas Hillary has offices in around 40. Bernie is probably greatly outspending Hillary in Iowa and NH given the amounts both have burned though so far. Bernie is banking on winning NH and being strong in Iowa will open up new revenue streams for him so is basically going all in on them, whereas Hillary is playing the long game already with an eye on organizing for the GE already. If NH wasn't next to Vermont, this race would already be over, but NH is basically home field for Bernie - and will be legitimized with a win there when it isn't really a big deal because he's all but local.

hi ShoelessRye,

Mr. Sanders has upped his spending recently in Iowa, but he's still been outspent by Mrs. Clinton.

if Bernie upsets her in Iowa and goes on to win New Hampshire, big "ifs", i think it'll cause the Clinton campaign to bleed a great deal of cash going into Super Tuesday...but i think he'll get destroyed there and that'll be that; and Debbie Wasserman Schultz and the DNC can start high fiving one another.

its too damned bad. Sanders has alot of intergrity and i'd have liked to have seen him win the nomination.

Hillary Clinton's kid questioners

At Hillary Clinton's town halls, it’s almost as commonplace as her campaign’s blue Fighting for Us campaign signs: the moment during the Q-and-A period when a child takes the mic and poses a query to the former secretary of state.

No scene is quite the same as others, but it typically unfolds in the same fashion, with a softball or emotional question, and Clinton always reacting expressively, congratulating her diminutive inquisitors for being brave enough to talk to her, asking them what they think of the matter at hand, and eventually delving into a long answer that almost routinely segues into a biography point, an outline of her policy platform, or a broader political point.

I know people think Hillary is the favorite in this campaign cycle but I really think her authenticity is going to hurt her. She seriously feels like a Democratic Romney except with even less personality and a campaign/party protecting her through the primary as much as possible. The election is going to be rough on her in the next few months. Just my call though.

Biden says he regrets not running for president 'every day'

Vice President Joe Biden started off the first week of the New Year with a confession: He regrets not running for president.

“I regret it every day, but it was the right decision for my family and for me,” he told an NBC affiliate in Connecticut on Wednesday.

Biden had said little about his decision since announcing on Oct. 21 that he would not seek the presidency because he was “out of time” to mount a credible to challenge to Democratic front-runner Hillary Clinton and independent Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders.

Wow, she throws millenial women under the bus, wants to ban recreational weed forever, and is in favor of more prisons and harsher criminal penalties. The worst kind of limousine liberal, a progressive in name only just because Democrat cocktail parties are better than GOP's.

and rightfully getting raked over the coals of social justice for it: https://twitter.com/hashtag/deardebbie?f=tweets&vertical=news&src=hash

lol at America. Most of the world hates you. With all the enemies you have growing bolder by the day, you're going to elect a woman to protect you. Lmao.

She is too much of a leader and intellectual for average people to understand.

People get turned on by even an idiot who says things that are not true so long as he/she speaks loud and promises utopia.

Clinton talks of reality and that unfortunately hurts her.

O'Malley in danger of missing Democratic debate
90

Criteria announced by NBC on Friday could bump Martin O'Malley off the stage for the next Democratic debate, but party leaders said they expect all three major Democratic candidates to secure a lectern.

According to NBC's announced criteria, candidates have to reach an average of 5 percent in national polls or in Iowa, New Hampshire or South Carolina to make the debate stage on Jan. 17, and the former Maryland governor is at 2.8 percent in the five most recent national polls, 5 percent in Iowa, and 2.4 in New Hampshire, according to POLITICO's calculations.

Well said. A lot of people have been saying this for a long time. A lot of people both liberal and conservative just don't trust her and is too much of a polished politician and blessed genuine then people would like. I think that's also what cost her against Obama.
