For starters you used Jordan as an example. That was an exhibition match that was in Freestyle. College wrestling is Folkstyle and if that match was Folkstyle then it would have been a lot closer. In MMA Askren subs Jordan. Jordan doesn't have bjj experience. Usman and Colby would be tough in Folkstyle but Askren could win. You don't understand the differences between how Folkstyle applies to MMA and how Freestyle applies to MMA.

I know Askren is currently the laughing stock of the MMA world, but he shouldn't be. He is not good at striking agreed, but he is one of the absolute best at another essential discipline, wrestling. He has put in years of hard work to perfect himself at that one skill, which is deserving of respect.

You realize Askren won two Hodge trophies which is basically the Heisman in collegiate wrestling and holds the record for most pins right? You're seeing 35 year old Askren. 28 year old Askren was much better.

You realize how nonsensical your age comparison is when Ben just got owned by a 42! year old Maia way way out of his prime. Ben definitely was a very good folkstyle wrestler I dont think anyone doubts that but in his latest fights he is a shit mma fighter.

Somewhat true but even his MMA grappling is lagging which was even shown in the Luis Sapo fight. He is an excellent chain wrestler but mainly gets his TDs from rushing into clinches which elite fighters can exploit (See the lawler slam e g.)
And his folkstyle (even tho very good at controlling people) just showed inferior to a BJJ wizard. Which is no shame but also shows pretty good where his grappling ceiling is.

Ironically, Askren landed a lot of solid punches. Really surprising and his uppercut was solid.

Maia landed pretty well himself but his face looked like hamburger.

Askren is poor at striking at range or when he's moving or when his opponent is. He can throw a little bit in the pocket and closer quarters.
