Ryan Laflare was undefeated when they fought and is a very good wrestler,
Rory outwrestled Tyrone Woodley and i've never seen him in his back before Maia,
Neil Magny, we saw what he did to Lombard and Gastelum who were suppose to be better grapplers,
Dong Hyun Kim is a very good grappler , etc

he's a complete beast since moving down

People are still tense as fuck when he starts grappling with them. That's respect you can't buy.

he should be sniffing at a title shot at this point
Nick wouldn't want to fight him

Always supporting Demian, fan for life here. Easily my favorite WW since GSP is gone. War Maia!

I think he beats Lawler. Only loses to Rory, Johny and maybe Tyron.

This is actually a really good point. Seems they feel pressured to stop that first takedown because getting outgrappled or submitted is a sheer inevitability

After the winner of Wonderboy x Rory get a title shot, Demian should be next. meanwhile Lawler should be defending it against Woodley or Condit again.

maia taking down chael

Yea he's a huge problem in that division. Just for reference I would like to see him and GSP square off

Those are his toughest matchups but he actually won the first round vs rory fairly handily.

Except for jake sheilds. American jiu-jitsu > Brazilian jiu-jitsu

People always cite GSP as the guy who became a great wrestler (in MMA) without a collegiate wrestling background. Maia deserves to be mentioned for doing this too. Really amazing how good his wrestling is in MMA.

I'd pay good money for Maia vs GSP in Metamoris or EBI. And that's coming from a guy who streams everything lol.

UFC guilty of ageism imo. This man is getting one unranked opponent after another, and his reward for all of it is Matt Brown, not exactly an A list opponent. As a fighter pushing 40 and desperately wanting a title shot before time runs out, I fear that is exactly what will happen.

Demian Maia is an absolute marvel. He gets dogged for being fairly one-dimensional, but his opponents know the TD is coming, but very few have been able to stop it. He makes them play with the sticky controller.

bjj seems to be a real problem for the chael
I actually saw an interview where Chael talked about the finish. He said he was so stunned by Maia scoring a lateral drop that he didn't even realize what a dangerous position he was in until it was too late. That is pure greatness and playing chess with your opponent.
