UFC didnt even have to erase him tbh. Dude had few fans and is one of the most unpopular UFC champions of all time. Thats why UFC didn't even hesitate to trade him.

They made the right Business decision. Ben brought a spark to welterweight and being on the receiving end of Masvidals Holy Knee put UFC in a good position. They used Jorges crazy popularity to sell a shit ton of PPVs. All that upside because they traded an unpopular fighter. Well played moved.

This isn’t discussed enough. UFC won that trade big time but both sides got exactly what they needed and everyone ended up better. Pareto Efficiency is what it’s called.

Johnson still has the weakest title run in UFC and they should have traded him before he got that bogus record(which shouldn't be his as Anderson should be tied at 11, it was never right that the Lutter fight wasn't counted as a title win).

BJ did same thing, he got bored of LW too and his first fight against Frankie, he was yawning in the back room, not even getting ready for the fight... Ppl just hate DJ cuz hes a complete package and no one could beat him. I mean Lutter and Serra shouldn't have been title defenses at all they won their shots on a reality show. We take it seriously cause the other knucklehead got KTFO by Serra.
