Defending against hip throws

How do i avoid being hip thrown?
I've been training with this pretty good highschool wrestler, and he is always doing hit throws on me.
How do i defend against this?
Impossible to describe. Just train some judo and you will learn to feel when your apanyent is attempting a hip throw. Usually you circle out so that is hips don't reach the point under your hips.

My strategy is literally the opposite.

CLINCH BATTLE to kill their shots and fight where I want to fight.

Need to have good single leg def though. But you need that no matter what.

Get out of my head.

Except the single leg def. I'll break a mf spirit trying to shoot a single on me, unless he gets it up past waist level then lack of mobility requires I bail. Up to that point I've got tricks on tricks. Check out Randy Lewis "impossible leg" videos. That man gets it.

UPDATE: I did some grappling sparring and some MMA sparring today and I am doing much better at not getting hip thrown! I have found that when in the clinch I can keep my hips away from their hips by putting my hands on their hips. Thanks for the feedback guys I will try to use other techniques that you guys told me about when needed.

It's worth mentioning that posting hands on the hips is basically a sophomore level stalling tactic; you can stop him that way, alright, but it also leaves you with no offense of your own, while he's still free to transition to other attacks of his own (especially in NHB where you can trow helbows).

Above all the best value for most of your training time is work in getting to dominant positions in the clinch, where you can shut down his attacks while opening up yours.
