Deadlifts and milkshakes

Thank you, thank you! These PRs were a nice surprise for me.

Did you end up competing? I remember we were talking about the meets being on the same day.

Looked strong. Can't argue with surprise PRs.

Yeah I did. It wasn't a great day.

Have you/do you plan to do a write-up? I've had my fair share of bad meets. In fact, all but the last two have been embarrassingly horrible haha

You should do a write-up, Legio. There's no shame in a bad meet, and you can learn something even from confronting and working through bad competition experiences. I totaled 7 lbs. above my best gym total--for 2RMs--at my last meet, so I know how it feels.

And WC, this meet was awesome. I've watched your video a bunch of times already--it's great to see people figure it out and put all their attempts together. You've got me psyched up to go train today.

Aw thanks, that means a lot coming from you. I'm glad you enjoyed the video. I've watched it probably 30 times today haha

This is going to sound really lame but this was a very emotional meet for me. For the past few months, I have been working with disabled young adults (teenagers). And when I woke up on the morning of the competition, I almost decided to opt out because I was having flu-like symptoms and didn't want to perform poorly. Then I thought about the kids that I work with who struggle just to lift their arm and write their name or take half an hour just to walk around the school once. From working with them, I have learned that mobility is truly a privilege so I gave it 100% yesterday because I can.

I also used the radioactive song because it reminds me of them. They love the song and go nuts when we watch this video in class:

Yep, I just made a badass powerlifting meet a sappy teacher story. Sorry guys.

I. Love. That song. Love it. It gets put on repeat in training sometimes. I don't really like a lot of their other work, but that song...

I just did and it definitely helped to organize the experience to better figure out specifically what I can improve. Thanks guy.

lulz, thanks

I have no idea either. They test it at my school but its a pinch test. Is that an accurate way of getting it read?

NurseKnuckles and moose are right. It can be the most accurate method but it needs to be done by someone trained to do it right.

I used to use calipers on myself and would get BF readings anywhere between 8% and 13%. Then I just started grabbing random places and using them and it got really out of control.

Here's a quick update on my bikini progress. I'm two weeks out. I need to get a little bit more serious about the diet and shed some more bodyfat.

I definitely notice more muscle mass. When I started the diet I was around 129/130. I'm now consistently 135+ every morning.

Awesome job! Your deadlift seems to be quite ahead of your bench and squat.

Congrats, WC. Awesome work!

Thanks miaou!

Yeah, their other stuff is kind of weak.

This fa sho. Great meet and I was nervous about the last squat even though it already said you made it :)

lol, thanks! It definitely was a grinder. One more pound and I might have been crushed.

I'm glad you decided to do a write-up. You will definitely be happy you did someday.

Hmm, good to know. I don't know how qualified the university students are but I'll give it a shot.

lulz, thanks.

I think that's because I can sacrifice my form so much for the deadlift. My squat will continue to rise, but my bench has been kind of stuck for a while. Hopefully that will change with sheiko.

Congrats on the meet! Great write-up & video!

Good luck in the bikini comp.

Thanks calvus!!!

I'm so nervous about the bikini comp. I'd much rather squat something heavy in front of an audience than stand in a bikini in front of an audience

Be confident.

Thanks calvus!

I got my spray tan today. I look and feel ridiculous and I smell like pineapples. I really appreciate everyone here for supporting me in this stupid journey (and for not making fun of me). I'll post some pictures of the event on Saturday night!

Good luck on the competition! Regardless how silly you think it is, still more than most of us do. So great work and I'm excited to see how it goes :)
