Deadlifts and milkshakes

You didn't mention that 115 moved with the same speed that your warm up sets with 85-lbs did. The 120 miss was a fluke, a brain fart

So take a bigger chance. Go balls out for 120 right off the bat.

This, don't feel bad about not getting a PR after doing all your normal worksets.

Thanks, I don't have a plan yet. Now I'm even second guessing if I should go. I think I've had a mild concussion this week from the handstand fall and I had some terrible head pains and nausea after benching yesterday. I'm going to head over to the doctor today just to get cleared. Then I'll decide my attempts. I've never gone into a meet so unprepared before!

Yeah, I know I'm good for 120+ paused. I think I was just fatigued from all the previous sets.

Just got back from the doctor about my headaches/nausiness. He said I have a concussion from my handstand fall and I shouldn't be lifting heavy for another week or so.

womp wompppp

^^ That's unfortunate.

What did he say?

Based on my symptoms, the nausea and severe headaches, he said I suffered from a concussion. I also have some strained muscles in my neck. I told him that I lift and that benching made the pain worse and he said anything that creates that pressure around my neck will cause me a lot of pain for the next few weeks. He said its not necessarily dangerous, but it could be and not worth the risk. He also said if my symptoms get worse or unusual, I should see a neurologist.

I fucking hate concussions!
I would take his advice. Its not worth the risk. Get better WC!

Here's some footage of yesterdays training. I'm pretty happy with the speed on 115.

Thanks Nurse! I've never had a concussion before this. Have you? The headaches are the worstttttt.

No, but I have been around plenty of guys who have an didn't stop to get better and ended up worse off for it...

eeek...scary! I know its more common in contact sports to have players who continue to play even though they have suffered from a concussion.

Definitely fatigued. The 115 went up so fast it looked like you were good for 10lbs more!

Thanks! I think so too. Hopefully, even after the rest I'll be taking, I'll still be able to see the reward of Smolov. I'll probably just run it again too.

Not even once.
How's the head?

Fine actually! The headaches have gone away for the most apart. I still have some mild headaches and neck pain, but I'm pretty sure I would be fine to train now. I haven't lifted in a while mainly because of the concussion, but also I'm finding it really hard to find time between my new job, school, and the rest of my life.

This log sucks.

3/1/2013

I did some benching today. Nothing really worth noting, just did some some light sets with varying grips to get back into the swing of things. Also, did some sets with my feet up. I don't know...

Followed by ring rows and dumbbell OHP.

Motivation is low, low, low but getting in there and doing something is a baby step.

WOMP WOMP

Notes: I started 5/3/1 today. I haven't done it in a while and I think it might be the solution to my lazy problem. Its easy to scale back if I'm not feeling it and I can push it on days that I do have more energy.

Today felt like shit. I haven't pulled from the floor in about a month (since the Crossfit comp I did). It's going to take some time for me to get back to where I was. And I'm still getting moderate headaches from the concussion.

Upcoming competitions are:
May 17th USAPL Full Meet
May 23 Amateur Bikini Comp

Right now my focus is motivation and staying healthy and more mobile. I'm on a health kick lately and have no interest in training heavy but I know I will become obsessed and dedicated soon.

Since I'm doing landscaping right now, this is one big reason why I love 5/3/1.
