Deadlifts and milkshakes

I'll be sure to wear sweatpants and a hoodie next time!

To be honest, I was a bit disappointed that you don't lift in an outfit like your avatar. I am sure a supergirl outfit would add at least 20lbs to your squat and 10lbs to your bench.

Depends if it's single or multi ply spandex.

Push ups

Notes: Real bad day. I woke up this morning to find out some asshole stole my debit card and spent over $1,000 of money that I was saving up for grad school. Registration starts in a week and IF I get the money back from the bank, it will take weeks. I am fuming with anger about this. The dumbass has been spending it in local gas stations, delis, and supermarkets so they WILL find him. They better keep his/her identity from me because I'm PISSED.

To top that off, I clipped my chin twice during the last push press set. I don't know what happened. I'm wondering if maybe because I went from heavy singles to such an easy weight and I was moving too quickly. Whatever it may be, I dealt with the first one but the second one made me feel confuzzled.

FUCK TODAY.

Maybe someday. I better be bringing something to the platform if I'm wearing a supergirl outfit.

Nah dude, raw til death!

Sorry to hear that- hope you get your money back.

As for clipping your chin, I think that can be a good sign: it means that you're not getting the bar too far out in front of you. As I understand it, it should be close enough in that you will clip your chin if you don't bring your head back. And I suspect it is easier to correct not bringing your head back than it is to correct having the bar too far in front. Just my two pence/Baht/Afghanis.

Thanks, there is no guarantee that I'll get my money back but I filed a police report and they stole $1,290 in one day.

And I agree about the chin. I was so baffled as to why that was happening. Pressing the bar too far in front of me has always been a problem for me haha I honestly think it was just the change in weight. I was snapping my head in front too quickly. My chin still hurts!

Who do you bank with? With the bank that I used to work for, you would almost undoubtedly get reimbursed. It's much easier with credit cards as compared to debit, but you should still get reimbursed. What exactly are they telling you?

Hudson Heritage Federal Credit Union. I've only spoken to the police so far because the bank hasn't been open. The police said I should get my money back but it's possible the bank may not reimburse me because I never reported my card as lost/stolen. I unfortunately admitted that I misplaced my card a month ago and never cancelled it. I assumed I had just lost it in my house and wasn't worried about it. I'm sure I will get my money back but I'm just preparing myself for the worst.

From my memory, you should be reimbursed for the stolen funds, however, if you have any overdrafts, they do not have to reimburse. Again, this is from my hazy memory from around 7 years ago. The banks insurance covers the loss, so I believe they can stall you out until they get their money from insurance.

I just got back from the bank. They DID reimburse me, even for the overdrafts. Pfew! I also got the specific times that the assholes were using my card and gave it to the police and they are planning to watch the tapes at the supermarket.

Awesome. Congrats. There really isn't a reason for the bank/credit union to deny you. They will be reimbursed, and denying reimbursement on fees is just bad publicity.

Yeah, I am so relieved. At the rate my life has been going, I wasn't going to be surprised if I was held responsible.

ART session #2

My knee/hip were killing me today for no reason. Not in the normal way. Like a sharp, painful hell in my knee everytime I put weight on my left foot. I told the doctor that and he spent a lot of time on my lower back, piriformis and behind my knees. It was amazing and I think I want to marry this guy or at least enslave him as my personal masseuse. Too weird?

Deadlifted right after, BAD IDEA.

Deadlift
95 x 5
95 x 5
135 x 3
165 x 3 (HARD, WTF???)
175 x 1
190 x 0

Ab wheel rollout

165 felt like 200 pounds, I almost put it down on the first rep. I have no idea what happened. My thinking is that the PT before the deadlift session was a bad idea. My muscles felt wayyyy too relaxed and loose. I couldn't get tight and I was tired.

Unfortunately, I am thinking of taking a break from lifting. After getting so psyched up about the meet for so long, it's disappointing to have to stop but I think it would be in my best interest for the long run. My knees feel like sandpaper, my hip feels like it's in 1,000 pieces and I can't sleep at night sometimes because of the pain. There will be more meets and I don't think it's worth destroying my body over. I'm planning on changing up my diet as well. :icon_cry2 Sorry to disappoint.

Nothing wrong with putting a meet on hold. Get healthy.

And yes, lifting after ART is bad.

I'll still be finishing my deadlift program and going for a deadlift PR and then I'll back off. I'll probably still go to the meet to watch too.

I knew it was going to be. I tried to time it so I pulled before my session but it just didn't work out. Live and learn.

Notes: I lied when I said I'd be finishing my deadlift program. I put my heart and soul into this today and was very disappointed that I couldn't finish. My hip felt fine going into it but it bugged out on the second single. My new plan is to restart 5/3/1 and lower my maxes significantly. It's less fun but probably the smartest option.

It's funny because 190 for a single would have made me very happy a month ago but I left the gym very disappointed. A big black guy even walked by and said, "YOU'RE using this weight??" I should have taken it as a compliment but it actually pissed me off. I just feel like I should be pulling more with the amount of work I've put into my training.

Here's a video, the pull was slow and ugly.

Your hips look a little high on that pull. Not only that it looks like your hips come up a little to soon. I would recommend dropping your ass into that pull.

Oh and what cycle are you on?

I have a really hard time knowing if my hips are too high or too low so I can't really comment if I agree or not.

You mean the cycle for 5/3/1? I'm only using 5/3/1 for my bench right now. I stalled on my press and deadlift and started customizing my routine. I don't even know what cycle I was on when I stopped.

I'm not saying you should do this but what I like doing is starting with my butt up high then lowering into the start of my pulling stance to the point where I feel the tightness in my hamstrings/glutes build up then right from there I start the lift. I dont spend any more time at the bottom then I need to. I feel if I do that I lose power. Doing this also forces my butt to stay low. I'm not
saying you have to do this but if you have trouble keeping your butt
low this might help.

I'm on my 6th cycle of 5/3/1 right now and when I ever do restart I will do so with the lighter percentage scheme. I was a little to gung ho at the beginning.

I'd like to add though that you do a good job at keeping the bar close and locking out.

I actually don't have trouble keeping my butt low. It's how I naturally start but I've been experimenting with higher hips. I'm not sure how I feel about it. It was awkward at first but I think I'm getting used to it.

And thanks, I've always had a good lockout but I'm just really slow off the floor.

ART session #3

The most painful one by far. I felt like I was going to puncture the table from squeezing it so hard. He was digging into all of the small ligaments connecting to my hamstring and he said there's definitely a sign of overuse. I'd also like to say that after only three treatments, I feel absolutely amazing. I squatted down today to get something and felt no pain/tension. I almost cried. No, literally. I feel very emotional about the thought of someday being able to do daily activities without horrible pain. I highly recommend this to anyone considering it.
