Deadlifts and milkshakes

Dude. This is gold.
I find that I am GMing at heavy weights. I thought it was back weakness but I am really sure its not.

So more squats at lower weight to address cuing issues, and front squats. This is what I have already added to my work so thanks for providing insight to my self-diagnosis...

Also, sorry for hijacking this thread!

Great work el' Capitaine!

Yeah, their advice was helpful. I had Goon yelling those cues at me and it helped a lot. I still do some odd good morning stuff which I can't figure out how to stop. Its extremely awkward looking when someone spots me. It looks like I'm trying to grind on them, but really I just don't know how to squat.

Paused bench
bar x 10
65 x 5
85 x 5
95 x 3
100 x 2
100 x 2
100 x 2
100 x 2

Incline bench
bar x 10(close) bar x 10 (comp) bar x 10 (wide)
bar x 10(close) bar x 10 (comp) bar x 10 (wide)
bar x 10 (wide)

Did some DB circuit with 5 lbs.

Notes: Had a long, tiring day. The university gym has some weird hours during the intersession so I didn't have much time to train today.

Also, my bench has completely stalled and it appears that I've even become weaker at this lift while my lower body lifts have gone up significantly. I've lost a few pounds from my new diet but I didn't expect it to affect my bench, and in fact, I expected the complete opposite (expected to lose strength on squat/dead, and stay consistent with bench). Weird.

95 x 8 rep PR (12/31/12)

Your bench hasn't stalled, WC. It looks like you've been doing a lot of touch-and-go work recently, so your paused bench might just need some training. You just hit a rep PR not two weeks ago, and your other lifts haven't been affected by your new diet. Don't let your diet get in your head on this one.

It happens to me on the heavier weights. I have come to the realization that I just have really weak legs (PC), is all!

I do tng and paused once a week, so I'm benching twice a week. I don't know, something just feels off. I started overhead pressing about two weeks ago so maybe I'm just not used to the extra work.

Did some rolling, stretching, nonsense while Steve finished his training.

Notes: Blah, blah, blah. Did nothing special today. Was supposed to squat 160 for doubles but my hip flexor has flared up pretty bad. It bothered me last week but I couldn't deal with it today. :-/

BW has been down too. Weighed 128 this morning!

I watched the 160x3. Depth was fine. I tried viewing that guys vids to leave on comment on his "proper" high bar, it appears comments are disabled though. Tells me that he can't take it, just give it.

And what he gives is bullshit.

Gm'ing can be caused by abdominal weakness, upper back weakness, losing tightness/getting loose. It could be a mental firing issue as well, too much butt/hams and not enough ad/abductor or quad.

Ha, yeah that guy is ridiculous. He seems to follow my videos on YT but he has never been so negative before.

I think my GM form is a combination of all the things you mentioned. I have some serious work to do!

lol, thanks guys.

Notes: Arghh fuuuuuu grumble grumble. Having a bad strain of training sessions. I had a really stressful day at work where I was doing several planetarium shows for 5 groups of kindergartners over a span of 6 hours. It was physically and mentally draining and I think it affected my training. At least I'm hoping that's the reason that I failed a 95 lb bench

I also trained with a girl who squatted 160 x 5 x 5 weighing 110 pounds. She didn't even realize how strong she was. I need to be surrounded by people like this more often. My university gym and the people in it are not really working for me anymore and I'm thinking of making a switch.

damn, good work on your dead lift rep PR! :-)

and those people piss me off that are super strong without realizing it and do not have any real interest in lifting. not fair.

^^ I second all sentiments of this post!

Thanks!

Well, she has been training very consistently for a while. Sometimes people just don't realize their strength.

Good work in here WitchCraft.

Thanks!

Warm up: leg swings, BW squats

Squat
bar x 10
65 x 5
88 x 5
110 x 5
132 x 5
145 x 5
145 x 5
145 x 5
145 x 5
145 x 5

Did some foam rolling and stretching at the end.

Notes: This was a new 5x5 PR for me. They were hard as hell and my hip flexor is still inflamed. I have a competition in less than two weeks so I'm keeping the assistance for the squat minimal from now until then. Hopefully I will feel ready to go by then.

Congrats for all the PRs lately!

Vids or it didn't happen.
