i'm seeing a lot of change in DC's mindset. At the beginning he started his fights with more aggression and explosive movement. Remember the Gus fight when he went for that slam very early in the first round. DC changed his game plan to a slower start, even letting his opponents tag him a couple of times before he started to pick them apart. Remember his fight with Johnson,Oezdemir,Jones how he tested the waters more before he somehow managed to find a solutions (except against Jones) and finish the fight. I like how DC started to grow and basically reversed his game plan from an explosive and aggressive start to a more calculated approach.
WAR DC, one of the GOATS in this sport.

Johnson he didn't start slow he just got his ass kicked then the second fight was getting grappled. Volkan gasses out in the first so DC could complete the takedown. DC has been starting slow because of his opponents not out of deciding. He tried taking down Volkan the whole first round.

It’s interesting but I hate how now for the first few minutes it looks like he’s gonna get wrecked

His opponents have been more aggressive than he is. It does seem like he's starting slow, but I think it just plays into him getting better and smarter as the minutes and seconds start counting down. I've been impressed with his last 2 fights on his fight IQ.

That's because he has a feeling out process and adjusts accordingly based on the opponents skill set. Or as Daniel would say:

"Bahhhhh Bahhhhh Bahhhhh"
