DC Animation (Trailer for AZTEC BATMAN, post #362)

I love it. Cheesy and not afraid to make fun of itself.

Not everything related to Batman has to be deadserious, dark tone, disturbing and ominous. This and Lego Batman animated movie get it.

Warner Bros. Animation Announces YOUNG JUSTICE Season 3

The Team is back and it’s “business as usual.” Warner Bros. Animation has begun production on a third season of all-new episodes of the acclaimed hit, action-animated series “Young Justice,” based on the characters from DC Entertainment. Season three promises new twists, turns and dangerous new threats for the team, but most importantly, the opportunity for fans to finally continue the adventures of some of their favorite Super Heroes. Further details about the new season — including premiere date and network partner — will be announced at a later time.

Heralded by Entertainment Weekly as one of the “9 Best Animated TV Series Drawn from Comics,” “Young Justice” has been equally praised by critics and viewers for its impressive visuals and rich storytelling. The series reached more than 25 million unique viewers in each of its two seasons on Cartoon Network.

“The affection that fans have had for ‘Young Justice,’ and their rallying cry for more episodes, has always resonated with us,” said Sam Register, President, Warner Bros. Animation and Warner Digital Series. "We are excited to bring the show back for this loyal fanbase and to provide an opportunity for new viewers to discover this excellent series.”

Producers Brandon Vietti (Batman: Under the Red Hood, Superman: Doomsday) and Greg Weisman (Star Wars Rebels, Gargoyles) will be returning to the series.

In “Young Justice,” the teenage Super Heroes of the DC Universe come of age in a world of super powers, Super-Villains and super secrets. Used strategically as the secret covert weapon of the Justice League, Nightwing, Robin, Aqualad, Kid Flash, Superboy, Miss Martian and a host of others strive to prove to their legendary mentors, as well as to themselves, that they have what it takes to be heroes.

The first 3 episodes of Justice League Action are now available online.

It's pretty good. Just a fun, lighthearted, fast-paced, action-packed show. The tone reminds me of Batman: The Brave and the Bold.

[Edit: The 3 episodes online were not in order. First episode was the Parasite Djinn. Second episode was Superman & Lobo. Third episode was Firestorm.]

First Look at TEEN TITANS: THE JUDAS CONTRACT; Christina Ricci, Miguel Ferrer Join Voice Cast

teen_titans.jpg

Christina Ricci and Miguel Ferrer are voice-starring in Teen Titans: The Judas Contract, the long-awaited DC Universe animated original movie from Warner Bros. Animation, DC Entertainment and Warner Bros. Home Entertainment.

The movie, being directed by Sam Liu (Justice League vs. Teen Titans) from a screenplay by Ernie Altbacker, adapts the classic storyline from Tales of the Teen Titans, one of DC's top comics in the 1980s. Ricci will play Teen Titans member Terra and Ferrer is voicing the mercenary villain Deathstroke.

Ricci and Ferrer are newcomers to the stable of the DC animated movies, a line that celebrates its 10th anniversary this year. Titans will also see returning DC players Sean Maher, Kari Wahlgren, Jake T. Austin, Taissa Farmiga, Brandon Soo Hoo and Stuart Allan join the voice cast.

Teen Titans was DC's comic that went head-to-head with Marvel's Uncanny X-Men in the early 1980s in a time when both comics were outselling their companies' more established stars such as Batman and Spider-Man, respectively. Titans, under writer Marv Wolfman and penciller George Perez, hit a zenith with The Judas Contract storyline. It was the culmination of years of stories that saw the Titans — young heroes Starfire, Raven, Beast Boy, Nightwing/Robin and Cyborg — face the betrayal of their teammate Terra. The young woman had partnered with Deathstroke to take down the team.

(The lineup of the animated movie, which is not a literal adaptation but takes a more "inspired by" approach, is slightly altered, as Cyborg is now a member of the Justice League in the comics and animated movies. Blue Beetle is among the new characters on the team.)

When the original lineup for the DC animated movies was announced in 2007, Titans was on the list, but the animated feature was put on the back burner as Warners and DC focused on core characters such as Superman, Green Lantern and especially Batman.

But in recent years, the Titans have surged in popularity thanks to Teen Titans Go, which is the Cartoon Network's top show. Deathstroke also has a higher quotient from being a key villain on CW's Arrow and now set to be a major villain in the next Batman live-action movie, which is being prepped with Ben Affleck wearing the cowl and sitting in the director's chair.

Miguel Ferrer, best known for starring as Owen Granger on NCIS: Los Angeles, died Thursday of cancer. He was 61.

Ferrer, who appeared in numerous films and television shows throughout his career, passed peacefully at home surrounded by family and friends, according to CBS.

Ferrer was the son of Rosemary Clooney, making him a cousin to George Clooney.

In the 1987 cult classic RoboCop, Ferrer played Bob Morton, the man who came up with the idea for a robotic police officer.

His other memorable screen roles also include Dr. Garret Macy on Crossing Jordan andAlbert Rosenfield on Twin Peaks, though Ferrer has also held a number of notable voice roles over the course of his career.

Earlier on Thursday, it was announced that Ferrer would lend his voice along with Christina Ricci to Teen Titans: The Judas Contract, the DC Universe animated original movie from Warner Bros. Animation. He had completed voice work on the movie for the mercenary villain Deathstroke prior to his death.

Wow what? Was just rewatching Twin Peaks. That's a real shock.

He's the second person to have filmed their scenes for the revival then died before airing. He must have known during filming he didn't have long. Very sad.

I've never been a fan of teen super hero series, but I'll give it a shot.

Don't like the new design for Starfire where she's very buffed and towering over everybody.

Is there a trailer for this?

They finally played a new episode of Justice League Action. Continues to be uninspiring. It's definitely aimed at kids, and seems to do so without any real consideration towards an adult audience. The animation isn't very good and most of the voice work seems phoned-in.

Decided to give Justice League Action one more try. And, I'm done. This episode had multiple obvious animation errors and some sequences had almost no animation, instead just using simple translation tweens. The budget for this show must be minuscule, and it really shows in the final product. I don't expect this one to have a long life.

I watched the Justice League Dark animated movie this morning. I had low expectations going in; and now its my 2nd favorite out of all the DC animated movies, Batman:UTRH being the first.

Yeah, DC's animated shows have gone downhill since YJ was cancelled. I know they could be doing better than this.

What i can say is that one should watch this if they want to expand their vocabulary. That tv dinner thing was hilarious as well.
