I hate the trope of a previous film's star coming back to mentor the new younger cast while themselves being mostly sidelined. Forget the new people. I want movies that bring back the old cast and put them front and center, as the leads again, focusing primarily on them.

Top Gun Maverick seemed to actually balance this well. It still kept Maverick as the lead while he also mentored a new cast. If Days of Thunder 2 does this, that would work. But if it does it like the detestable Scream 5, where the film focused primarily on the new (shitty) cast and the original stars only showed up for a glorified cameo..... to hell with that nonsense.
