Is David Haye the most popular boxer in the UK? That number is from 2016

To put it on perspective Conor vs Diaz peaked at 220 thousand viewers .

Any U K know ?

what Liam Smith get in his last fight.

Who was it that was trying to tell me Haye needed Joshua?

The fights were on a channel called 'Dave' which broadcasts primarily repeats of british comedy shows, and because of this it attracted alot of attension; people thought it was weird and tuned in to see it.

As far as I'm aware pretty much everone in the UK has the channel Dave.

For active UK boxers, he definitely has the most twitter followers

Most popular? No. Haye fights on a poverty TV channel that's free.

A true representation of his popularity would be to see the number viewers his fights would get it if they were on Sky Sports.

Why is this impressive?

He's fighting on free TV, put any boxing fight on free TV in the UK and you will get big numbers, this isn't the US market, boxing is on fire in the UK. In terms of gate, a lot of the tickets had to be given away for free, he's not selling 20k in an hour.

Every house in the UK has the channel Haye fought on, not many reasons not to switch over and watch.

For reference, Carl Frampton got 1.9m viewers fighting on ITV4

I didn't even know Haye fought last week.

edit- I guess he didn't. <15>

TNA also draw more viewers than WWE in the UK sometimes, UK is a weird market. Not a reflection of the world.

Not surprising as TNA is on a channel quite a few people can get in the UK whereas WWE is on Sky Sports and you sometimes have to pay extra for that ontop of your normal subscription.

Dave (the boxer) is still massively popular because he knows how to communicate with pundits & punters, he's very very media-savvy... & though we hardcore fans might wince, he puts arses on seats 'cos he puts (shit)arses on the canvas.

He was selling out arenas & fighting on PPV when Tyson Fury was fighting in leisure centres; everybody seemed to be talking about his comeback versus... it's gone. The shite 'roidhead Aussie with the stupid mullet?

WWE doesn't have much reach here outside of 30-something man-children & teenagers.

Perhaps that TNA thing gets some cred/interest by proxy from the rise of UFC in the UK (octagon ring etc)?

Similar numbers to Wilder in a country five times smaller.
