Tell me about it. I had to start looking for new material for ISL. I started on my idea but I just don't have the skills to pull it off yet, bit off way more than I could chew, lmao. Would have taken me till next years ISL to complete it.

You know me, I'm very keen to learn. Would love to know how to put some smoke coming out of the joint.

I use this video below for stuff like that. I downloaded it in case it disappears from the web. I forgot how I did it but I made it loop perfectly but in a faster time period. I probably did that in Virtual Dub. A few days ago I made an avatar for @HulkOnViagra using that video. See how it seamlessly loops?

Anyways put that video, or I will give you my hacked version, on the top layer of your video timeline. Set that layer to "Screen Mode". You are done and have perfectly looping smoke!!

You may have to mess with the contrast, levels, or curves to bring out the whites to your taste. Screen Mode will only show what is "north" of 50% grey. In other words it will only show light grey to white. The black will be gone and all you will have is smoke. I can make a video for ya if you like.
