The Infinity Gauntlet is not a permanent fixture of the Thanos storyline. He had it for a six issue shot in the 90s and then as a gimmick thereafter.

Isn't Darkseid's power self-contained, as one of the 'New Gods'. I don't think he even needs a device to open a boom tube. And I've never seen Thanos' eye beam take a hard right around a corner.
