Television DAREDEVIL: BORN AGAIN (Premieres March 4, 2025)

Guess we now know the answer to why Kingpin’s knuckles are busted up….

Good episode, and Bernthal fucking delivers.

Fisk, as he's already admitted himself, is not the forgiving type.

That scene was the best so far in the series, IMHO. Frank knows just how to push Matt's buttons. He taunts him about not killing Bullseye - "How about old Foggy, did he get life?" - and when Matt finally snaps and hits, Frank ignores his attempt to apologise,

"That's the first honest thing you've done since you got here, Red".

Did you notice how they changed the scene from the trailer? Matt no longer tells Frank to put the hatchet down. And the angle of the scene itself is shot differently.

It’s very good so far but for some reason I was still drawn into the Penguin more ? Not nearly as good of characters but maybe bc the Penguin was so good in that series you just want to see who he screws over next ?

Daredevil used to have a Joker like villain in the comics The Jester , but Marvel killed him off in the mid 80”s could bring him back if Bullseye gets stale never gets boring watching crazy clowns / Jesters do evil on screen .
A second Jester was introduced in the Civil War story.

Punisher killed him.

I’m curious what fisks endgame is here. All he’s shown is that he’s brutally incompetent at being mayor and he’s beating up some can in his free time. Daredevil isn’t even on his radar at this point and Fisk isn't on daredevils.

I think Fisk genuinely wants to be a good Mayor, in his own twisted way, and improve NYC. The problem, of course, is that he's still trying to do things the same way as when he was Kingpin. Back then, Fisk just gave orders to his underlings, who obeyed on fear of death. Now he has to work within a legal and political structure. And he's floundering badly.

I fucking lol'd at the pain on Wilson's face when he has to sit through the kids trying to sing, "We Built This City". And the look he gives when he goes to the Latvian embassy and they're singing the same fucking song in Latvian is priceless! <lol>

Yeah they're not following the born again storyline at all.

They shouldn't use that title then.

I wanted to watch daredevil, not Matt-lock

I can't imagine how little action there was in the version they scrapped, if this is the upgraded version.

Am I the only one that's completely lost on the kingpins story?

It's been so long since I watched the Netflix show, but I don't remember Adam, or an affair, and Vanessa seemed like a completely different person than how she is now.
I think at the end of Netflix DD, DD beat up Kingpin and got him to agree not to reveal his identity or else DD would go after Vanessa and then Kingpin went to jail or prosecution. I think when they made Echo, the new DD show wasn't going to be a continuation of Netflix DD and Kingpin was just free and took in Echo as protege. Vanessa must have been having sexual relations with Adam in betw Netflix and Disney DD. Disney Vanessa just transitioned into crime ring executive producer keeping the peace and delivering returns on investment.

The parallel with Kingpin as mayor with today is with Kingpin clearly trying his best to eliminate heroes so he can go back to crime without interference. I suppose that's why he ran for mayor. Disable the checks and balances so he can get away with whatever the fook illegal shit he wants to do.

I think this is my favorite Punisher performance so far from any of the series. He's so... harried. Bernthal was born to play this character, and he's still improving it. Everything about this scene was just stellar. The medication -whatever that was- the stressed out sweaty wildman look.... He's like a caged animal, or... a junkie. Sitting there in what's basically an armed rat hole plotting and scheming.
Also, going back to that previous comment I made about White Tiger/Muse, the thing is something isn't quite lining up. I mean, it's pretty clear they are still going the corrupt cop route, but with Matt being able to tell that one cop dude wasn't lying, i'm wondering if it wasn't something higher up, like Fisk personally had his British fellow take him out. The reason my mind went to Muse was because i'm hoping they keep his tv powers in line with the comics in terms of imperceptibility/sense dampening. I know it's not going to be him that killed Hector, but that would have at least explained how White Tiger could walk right past his murderer without knowing.

Bernthal has said he understands the regard the Punisher is held in by Military, Law Enforcement etc, and he won't do anything to hurt the character.

Chekov's Pills: I have a feeling we'll find out what medication Frank was taking later in the series.

I don't think it was English Wesley that killed White Tiger. The Punisher obviously has his fans among the cops, but only a few of them are willing to act as a death squad. Either on behalf of Fisk or for themselves. They will keep everything compartmentalised. That's why the detective - who was perfectly willing to shoot Matt dead in the apartment - genuinely didn't know it was a cop who killed Hector.

I just hope they don't make Hector's niece the new White Tiger; the kid looks about 4 foot tall.

There's a nice callback to the Netflix DD season 1 finale: Fisk, during the marriage counselling, claims that during his conversation with Adam, "There was no ill-intent".

He's lying through his teeth, of course, but it's also a reference to the monologue Fisk gives in the back of the police van after he's arrested at the end of S1. He talks about the Parable of the Good Samaritan, and how he came to realise he was not the Samaritan: he was the Ill Intent who set about the traveller.

There were several references to Latvia during this episode. I wonder if Latvia will become the MCU's Latveria. Doom could have been raised there, and later conquers it and makes himself king. In Moon Knight we see a castle and village that's taken straight from the comic book Latveria, so it obviously exists in some form in the MCU.

It would save the MCU creating a whole new European country, as they had to do with Sokovia.

2 action scenes in four episodes is fucking ridiculous, its like they hired an actual blind guy to write this.

The acting is great, but I agree they need to pick up the pace. You've got Punisher in a show and he hasn't killed anyone on screen by nearly the half way mark? Unacceptable.

I’m enjoying the show. It’s not as good as the Netflix series but that’s to be expected with how they had to course correct. I really like this punisher, his scene with Matt was very good. My gripes so far are the marriage counseling scenes I don’t really care about, the street interviews and Fisk being a bit smaller than he used to be. But those are minor gripes.

8/10 so far

Michael Gandolfini as Daniel Blake is a genius piece of casting, given that Fisk is basically Tony Soprano as a Super Villain.

The scene where Daniel confesses to Wilson he was the leak was very good. D'Onofrio is so great in the role because you're never quite sure how he's going to react in any given situation. He goes from rage at Daniel's stupidity to a grudging respect for his courage and loyalty. Although I'm not sure Daniel understood how literal Fisk was being when he told him that if he screwed up again, it would be the last thing he ever did...

Also, I lol'd at this,

Daniel, "I stayed out to maybe 4 or 5 AM...we did lots of shots...and some Ketamine..."

Fisk, "You should stop talking now". <lol>

I definitely lowered my expectations when all the news came out about this and tried to be realistic that this will be a step down from the Netflix stuff. Four episodes in and this has proven to me that I didn't need to in the least

This last episode was on par with anything done in the Netflix seasons. And I LOVE the Netflix seasons.

Love this and need it injected into my veins.

Every time I stop moving, I hear my little boys voice. He’s says ‘Get them, Daddy. Get every one of them’.

Chills man. Absolutely masterpiece of a scene.

I'll withhold judgement on that for now.

Frank has been in one scene and it was awesome.

We'll see how they break the board that was set up in the second half.

The service bit got me.

But the voices man, Frank only hears the dead.
