Throwback Daniel "It's Over" Cormier

This required a lot of research, did you use AI?

Can you do one for all the times Rogan has said that a submission is locked in?
I want one for every time Joe Rogan said "omoplata"

He used to yell that shit all the time back in the day.. and then randomly throw in Eddie Bravo terms like "Mission control" or "crackhead control"

He did say "dead orchard" a few fights ago too.

Joe Rogan's insistence on rubber guard being the future of MMA is one of the most wrong predictions in MMA history.

I love how there is this entire beautiful historied martial art; deeply steeped in ancient tradition and passed on through families and dojos for many generations, from the Orient to South America, battle tested in real no hold barred competitions by the best martial artists on the planet and played an integral part in the evolution of combat sports

and it got rendered nearly useless by:

“Fuck that I’ll just stand up and punch him in the face”

Here are 23 UFC or Contender Series fights in which Daniel Cormier declared during live commentary that a fight was ending imminently by TKO/KO or submission. Cormier was wrong in all cases.

In four of the cases, the fighter Cormier said was getting finished went on to win the fight.

I have only admitted cases in which Cormier expressed certainty that the fight was ending and was wrong.

This is not the same as saying a submission is "locked in" or "tight". It is also not the same as saying a fighter "looks/seems defeated".

Honorable Mentions are for cases in which, although Cormier was incorrect, the attacking fighter did finish his opponent in a subsequent sequence shortly thereafter in the same round. For example, Vieira failed on his first arm triangle attempt against Brundage ("It's over"), but the second attempt did end the fight.

Honorable Mentions:

  • Cody Brundage vs. Rodolfo Vieira 3:55 remaining: "It's over"
  • Julian Marquez vs. Marc-Andre Barriault Rd 2 2:11 remaining: "It's over already!"
  • Yadier del Valle vs. Isaac Dulgarin Rd 1 2:20 remaining Brendan Fitzgerald: "He doesn't want to tap!" Cormier: "Well he's going to have to here in a second."
DDP vs Izzy is another one. Technically, I think he might have said, "he's done."
