Daniel Cormier vs Curtis Blaydes

Blaydes would easily ragdoll him

Dc has shit TDD

He got taken down like 5 times by the GOAT and got taken down by Rumble lol. Oh and Gus was even with him in takedowns landed

Still amazes me how many people underestimate DC. Blaydes would get wrecked.

Cormier is something of a nightmare matchup for Blaydes.

If DC beats Stipe, he's clearly the best fighter he's ever been. Curtis would be the underdog. But I'm also picking Curtis, since while his striking may not be as good as Cormier's, he outclasses Cormier physically in every aspect. I think it will be a dirty, gritty, painful fight that will take years off their lives, but in the end I think Curtis' heart, chin, and determination will get him a decision win.

Curtis vs Ngannou, Stipe, or Cormier will all be gritty crazy fights like Cain vs JDS 1 & 2, and Curtis knows it. He's ready to sacrifice a piece of himself every fight to take and hold the belt.

With the lack of wrestlers at HW, Blaydes has not fought anyone with significant TDD and went 0-13 on TD against freaking Omielanczuk. There are no reasons to expect him to ragdoll DC or even Stipe.

People seem to be picking DC but I really think this fight is a mystery at this point, DC hasn't fought at HW in several years and is only getting older. Blaydes improves dramatically with every fight.

Hunt has decent TDD these days imo, only the high level wrestlers have managed to out wrestle him. Struve, Tuscherer, Kongo, Nelson, Mir etc all tried and failed. He simply doesn't have bad TDD. His TDD percentage up until Brock was some of the highest in the division.

At this point I think DC is favored.

But Curtis is improving quickly. Who knows when Curtis hits his prime.

Ridiculous your comparing four fights ago to who he is today, do you not know his background, have you not noticed the progression? The lunacy of Sherdoggers who have never trained and don’t understand progression. He was NOT at a gym and didn’t have a coach for his debut fight, so he’s increasing greatly in competition while learning, not easy to do. More amazingly he’s doing this and winning, most guys can’t do that eg Stipe got KO’d by Struve, is he that same guy? No, but he needed those setbacks to breakthrough, so far Blaydes only needed that first fight, now six fights later, no more losses...

Blaydes is hitting levels. He just dominated a guy who almost knocked out the champ less than a year ago. And has been stated, he ragdolled Stipe when they trained together... I don’t think he ragdolls DC, but I think he grinds him out.

Yeah right. This never happened.

Yeah buddy lol, I was there, ask Coach Marinelli what happened the first time they ever MMA sparred, three Blaydes suplexes in the first round. That being said I love Stipe too, in the second round Stipe stayed on the outside and boxed him to death. From then on that was how Stipe sparred Blaydes. Blaydes was only an ammy back then, think it was 4-5 years ago, so who knows today

Blaydes is younger, larger, stronger, better cardio and can nullify the wrestling. I don’t see why he wouldn’t be able to take him
Better cardio by what metric? That's just pure bullshit. How many 5 round fights has he been in compared to DC? How would he nullify DC in wrestling? DC has proven to be a FAR better wrestler. Blaydes barely took down a green Ngannou and then got his shit rocked.

Right... Like I said, I don't listen to anecdotal, unproven bullshit. I go by what I've seen them both do, and Stipe wrestled Ngannou far better than Blaydes did, while also dominating on the feet. And Ngannou was better than when Blaydes faced him.

For sure, Stipe did far better than Blaydes, totally agree. That being said you understand Blaydes was 25, took an overseas fight on two weeks notice, didn’t have a coach, and trained at a local UFC gym for his 6th pro fight? Lol that’s green. Francis in his 10th fight at 30 something jumping on a three hour plane w a full camp is a little different.

Completely agree, I see Blaydes vs DC as a grinding fight, Blaydes using his size against the cage and just trying to wear on DC. Blaydes has shown he fights smart and knows how he’d need to approach this

have you not noticed the progression?

I don't believe he immensely improved in a year, no. He mostly benefits from a thin and aging division where being under 35 is already miraculous.

Struve and Kongo didn't even attempt to take him down, all the others on your list, except Mir, actually managed to take Hunt down.
