Daniel Cormier made excuses for not finishing a middleweight who fought on 2 days notice.

If he creates space to land some actual strong GnP or go for submissions, then it creates opportunities for Silva to get up. He had a 25-30lb weight advantage, and chose to just lay on the guy. That is just fighting scared. It is a lot easier to just hold someone down than it is to finish them.

Someone needs to teach Comier how to posture up, and slide his knee through while in half-guard. He didn't even seem to know that was a possibility.

You would think he would be nervous about being stood up again, and again, and make those takedowns count, but he didn't seem to think that was a concern.

Anderson had nothing to worry about, even in side control. He knew DC would just sit there, and wait for the stand-up while throwing fake punches at him.

Didn't he land like 150 strikes? They may not have been fight ending, but Silva doesn't allow opponents to posture up and rain down on him. He was active the whole fight.
33 sig strikes while being in a dominate position for nearly the entire fight is pretty brutal. Understand the strategy but don't expect praise

anderson's already been relegated to just 'a middleweight' has he?

The trap

DC should have just choked him out. Why didn't he? He just chose to lay there.

is sprung.

Anderson Silva didn't make anything easy for DC. His defense was great. DC couldn't pass half, when he tried to gain mount from side Anderson regained guard easily. Anderson defended and stopped DC from throwing anything decent.

We saw a great wrestler vs a great guard, and neither found much success. It was a fight.

Great work as usual SN, and completely agreed.

Nobody said praise. Just not all the crap he is getting.

He gets praise for taking the fight at all. He didn't have to fight, there didn't have to be a search for an opponent 3 days out and nobody would've said anything about it.

I wanna see them fight again with a full camp Anderson.

This is fun.

DC is in the prime of his career and is the current LHW Champion. DC has cleared out the division but failed to beat a broken ex champion that was handed pick by him on a 2 day notice. Anderson Silva wasn't even training for a fight and even had his kids with him to go watch UFC 200. DC ruined Anderson Silva's family event because he wanted to secure an easy win. Little did DC realize that Anderson Silva was a lot harder to beat than he had originally thought. So DC thought the best way to win fans after all that crap with Jon Jones, was to channel his inner Tito Ortiz and lay and pray, almost throwing no punches at all. Sadly DC could not understand why people paying for an event would be so angry with his little ruse. DC's planned backfired and he probably lost more fans than he gained today.

Lucky, Kevlar44 is blind enough to be his hard core fan. Kevlar44 thought DC displayed an amazing skill set during that fight. There was that one time where he shot for a takedown and landed in top control and then just sat there. There was also that one time where Anderson punched him in the face really hard so DC decided to turn up the heat a notch and went for another take down. DC then just sat their again.

Thanks bro. :)

I'm not a fan of anyone, i'm a fan of fighting and common sense. I doubt Cormier hand picked him, the UFC certainly wanted Silva's name attached to the card if Jones couldn't be. I don't think it was an amazing performance i just recognize Silva has an excellent guard, he showed massive improvement in the second Sonnen fight. Cormier was trying and he won decisively, nobody can outstrike Silva still. Weidman didn't, he beat him everywhere else and landed the KO due to clowning, Diaz couldn't, and Bisping only beat him due to inactivity on Silva's part as he looked for the KO.

Ye shame on DC for dominating Anderson Silva. He should have finished him like a can.

DC knew he was fighting a guy who can humiliate him so he played it semi safe and cruised to a dominant UD. Nothing wrong with that.

Preparing for Jones and having to fight someone like Anderson on 2 days notice is tricky and comes with its own pressure.

Props to both guys.

Besides laying on top of Anderson, and keeping him nice and warm..this is what annoyed me the most.

Also, Anderson hurt DC more than DC hurt Anderson.

Yes it's super easy to tko or ko Anderson Silva. That's why everyone has knocked him out in all of his fights.

Also it's very easy to ground and pound Silva. Even though he had a good lockdown from half guard and was stalling from bottom.

Sherdog is full of idiots

He fought Anderson Silva, not a middleweight - got it ?

No attempt to improve position. No attempt to throw any serious ground and pound.
On top of that, he looked like a fat eight year old when he would try engage in kickboxing.
He looked horrible, and even a half-baked Jone would have dominated him. D.C. has a horse shoe up his ass.

Why do you disrespect Anderson so much? Even a person without much understanding about MMA, like yourself, should be able to see how well Anderson stifled DC's top game. It is credit to Silva, although it made the fight boring.

Anderson's TD is garbage. DC would have been stupid to not expose that.

Anderson couldn't even finish a WW in Nick Diaz and had to roid

DC dominated the fight and was landing elbows and punches on the ground against one of the best fighters in MMA history.

Anderson was in better shape than people realized. He was training for a few weeks (footage was posted) and he was getting ready for a fight before pulling out prior to that.

Anderson's biggest weakness has always been TDD and Cormier did what he was supposed to. Anderson could catch anyone on the feet so DC took the fight where he should have

yup... silva made dc's standup look pretty bad. a prime or fully trained silva would have
finished dc after that kick.

No. Anderson in his prime still would have been on his back. DC is a better wrestler than Sonnen.

Also...DC won most of the standup except for a liver kick with only 30 seconds to go in the fight.

Then do something with your takedowns. DC didn't even fight on the ground. He smothered. He wasted time on purpose.

You get him right where you want him ,and you still don't fight? Bullshit.

Did you guys even watch the fight? DC landed plenty of punches and elbows on the ground.
