There is an unwritten rule, to Dana, that even if your opponent misses weight, you either take the fight anyway, or take another fight ASAP. Many precedents have been set. Just recently, Khamzat missed weight by a whole lot, and Nate did the companyman thing and fought someone else on the same card. Most fighters still fight, accepting a percentage of their missed-weight opponent as compensation. What Wonderboy did in choosing not to fight Pereira was break Dana's unwritten rule. That's why he didn't get paid, even though he and a lot of people think he should have.

Opinions?

Yeah cos any promotion will somehow concede that. They fuckin LOVE not having fights and still paying for them.
If you are some no name they won’t. If you bring an audience they will. The money is already budgeted into the event whether the fight happens or not. Obviously they arent getting their full pay but a quarter sounds fair.

They wouldnt even pay Conor if his opponent missed weight.

There's a reason why Conor had two pull outs close to the fight, and he still showed up. Because if he didnt,he wouldnt get paid. He WANTS that fucking money, and the UFC NEEDS him to fight.

Its the same with anyone else, more or less. They are never gonna pay Conor his obscene pay if he dont fight. So he wont get shit. So they make a deal and bring in someone else.

Making weight/Pullin out,its all the same shit to the UFC. What makes Wonderboy so fuckin special?? He had to know there was a big chance he wasnt gonna get nothin.

People are overthinking this.

Wonderboy will rescheduled soon and paid his full amount

Best thing is to fight if you want to get paid. Fight more, get paid more

If he gets rescheduled, then he doesn't get compensated for this fight lol.

Unless you're saying you think they are going to pay him above and beyond on his next fight?

There are some state athletic commissions that require the promoter to pay the fighter who makes weight when the other fighter doesn’t make weight. Apparently Utah does not, but it is indicative of promoters trying to coerce fighters in to fighting someone they didn’t sign up to fight. Like an opponent who doesn’t make weight.

Conor fought a fuckin wrestler, and a dude who is impossible to knock out on very little notice.

Cos he about that money.

Wonderboy aint about it like that. He thinks he should never have to face a grappler again en route to a title shot.

el oh fucking el.

Oh yeah, that's definitely what happened. Nothing to do with Nate wanting the get the hell out of his contract & filling his obligations, he did the "companyman thing".

That is the game though. Everyone learns that from the time even before they get to the UFC. Same in Boxing,Kickboxing, all fighting.

It sucks but they at least offering you alternatives. Most fighters say "who you got for me then??"

Cos that is the fuckin game.

Also Cabo Nate will fight anybody at the drop of a hat anyway

He aint no wonderboy

If UFC offered him a few mil for a one off in 2 weeks,Nate will be there.

This I am sure they would do,but moreso if he fought that night. He could have just talked to them first, but he decided to make a big deal to the media.

If it was so obvious then that Wonderboy wouldn't get paid, why are so many people in a uproar about it, as if it was shocking that he didn't get paid?
People lose their minds off of just about everything these days. Including things they have no context or understanding of. You really can’t take public opinion with any kind of seriousness.
