It would be up to the homeowner ( UFC) to then go to the truck driver company ( Michel) and get damages pay back for fucking everything up ...

You dont fuck your construction contractor out of pay lol....thats the quickest way to get your project delayed or stopped all together .. especially when another company is responsible for the delay. .

People really think a company is just going to accept a pay cut because of another company’s fuck up lol. Everybody who thinks this would feel very differently if they were the ones getting stiffed.

Of course it does, and that's the entire problem and what makes the UFC a bunch of scumbags. Put either 50% of show money or some kind of fixed fee for promotion + covering the cost of the training camp. It's ridiculous that something like this hasn't been a part of the contract for years already.

UFC obviously has to get ROI. The fact that they would pay camp fees, etc. that Dana outlined is extremely fair, and getting him a quick fight while he's in fight shape is a very reasonable halfway point. You can't expect the company to operate with a standard operating procedure of paying guys for not fighting. Everyone is advocating for the UFC to just eat its money because Pereira missed weight, but, that's because you hate Dana, not because it's a reasonable resolution. If the UFC wanted to be charitable, sure, it's a good look for $250,000, but from henceforth every fighter whose opponent misses weight won't fight and won't take a quick turnaround fight, they'll just say fuck you pay me money for making weight. Not a good business practice.

And that would have cost millions to Nate Diaz with the Khamzat fight, and we wouldn't have had Tony v. Nate or the Khamzat makeup fight.

Anyway, I'm not trying to mock anyone, but I really do think you guys are being unreasonably anti-UFC for the sake of hating Dana. If you were an arbitrator for both sides in this process, you'd never argue that the UFC just pay WB for not fighting. it's not equitable. you'd honestly argue for what Dana seems to have described.

How? It's quite literally the legislation that the fighters get paid for the bouts themselves and upon completion of the bout they're owed their purses.

Fair point but the difference is the contract. Does the contract say that Rhianna doesn't get paid until/unless she actually performs? Rhianna would never sign a contract where she didn't get paid for promotion. The concert itself would be a separate payment/contract.

UFC fighters are signing slave contracts where it states they don't get paid unless they actually fight. It's one of the reasons why Francis left. The contracts are bad and there is no guaranteed money. If you sign a deal for 10 million dollars, UFC can cancel that contract if you lose, violate their code of conduct, etc. You don't get a lump sum of 10 million dollars. It's really a per fight contract but you are locked in.

Anyway, I'm not defending the contracts, I'm just saying that if you are strictly going by the contract, UFC doesn't owe Wonder Boy anything. He knew what he was getting in to. I think one big problem is UFC has paid guys when the other guy has missed weight so they set a precedent. It's like giving 50k bonuses for good performances. Now every fighter begs for 50k after every fight. Do it for one person and other people will expect the same.

100% understand and agree there is no legal obligation (and with the rest of the post really), but I will just add that the public reaction is also not bound by legality, necessarily.

UFC is literally paying for your "day" for your workers that showed up to work but the concrete truck didn't show. they're paying WB's camp fees and what not

they aren't paying you for the paved driveway that isn't paved just because you showed up and did nothing. they're offsetting your wasted time and willing to pay you to do the job another day.

there's a contract in place and it involves fighting. if you don't fight you don't get your fight money, that's fucking ridiculous to expect unless you're just expecting charity. dana's explanation was totally reasonable, assuming it's true.

The UFC already used Wonderboy's likeness and name to sell tickets and PPV buys, both of which were sold in advance.

Then he was required to literally perform work for them at various press events, media obligations they setup for weeks leading up to the event, pre-tapped and week of the event, then fly somewhere and spend an entire week doing exactly what the UFC agreed to pay him to do.

So one party benefited, one got screwed. Saying Wonderboy didn't work is factually wrong on its face, and saying he should work for free is pretty ridiculous.

League teams are in charge of their own players health, nutrition, training, everything. Of course they take care of their players under their care. They need them to win games for them and so have a vested interest.

Completely different than a promotion which is just promoting the bout. They have nothing to do with them before the bout.
