Dana White: Romero will fight Whittaker next.

MMA, where every crime gets pardoned as long as you give a highlight reel KO.

Oh come the fuck the on UFC. Really???? Yoel cannot face Whitaker again.

Will Yoel turn up 5lbs over this time?

He went into the fight with a leg injury, which probably why he missed weight. He just didn't say it out loud because he didn't want Luke to take advantage of it during the fight.

If its the case, Luke was in better shape going in than Yoel was. But as the Khabib-Trujillo fight, which was eerily similar, the better shape guy lost. Even if the court of public opinion thinks the injured guy had it easier or was lazy, which isn't the case.

Whiitaker v yoel for the belt and then weidman v jacare for number one contender

For the fans but not for the UFC. Ill bet ur ass the UFC paied Romero less when winning just a regular fight.

Yep.I mean the only reason there was an interim belt is because this was PPV. If this was a Fight Night card, or UFC on Fox, would've been dubbed #1 contender fight.

I feel like Yoel had a backroom deal with Dana to allow him to miss a weight cut up to a certain amount if he is willing to come in and fight on 4 weeks notice. Dana is normally furious at fighters for missing weight but this time he was rather calm about it. Yoel as well, didn't see any urgent expression during the weigh-in. This is all guessing, I am not claiming I have any evidence to back this up.

What? A deal with Dana, lol?

Missing weight for athletes at this level is unacceptable, period.

Wasn't overly close, BUT Yoel always had a solid chance in those limbs of his. I believe Rob finishes him this time with no injuries.
Both are great fighters and I like both guys, but just like Whittaker will likely have a different approach/gameplan, Romero will too.

I definitely thought Jacare won his split decision loss to Yoel, so its a bummer he's getting cast aside again here.

I'd much rather see Whittaker fight someone new as opposed to an immediate rematch with Yoel.

You shouldn't lose to the champion, win one fight where you missed weight by several lbs, then rematch the champ.
Yea but who should Whittaker fight then?

Yoel v Whittaker 1 was a close fight too

I thought it was a clear 48-47.

Thats close.
That's your definition and you are welcome to it. I say it was well managed clear victory by Rob. To me a 'way too close' fight requires the decent possibility that it could go either way in a decision.

It’s the only fight to be had....Then Weidman vs Jacare for next one. That’s the easiest and fairest way, seeing that Luke got KTFO.
