How could Alvarez be running from top LW's if he had only tried to defend his belt once. He called out Conor, tried to get a better deal, but couldn't and Nurmagomedov was on standby - probably unknowingly - if he and the UFC couldn't come to an agreement.

Depending on what you believe or don't - Conor asked for the Edgar fight, which made no sense, and Dana said he wanted a build up for it if it was going to happen. And according to Conor's manager, he asked for the Nurmagomedov fight and the same reason as the Edgar one was given for that.

Conor and Nurmagomedov is a Vegas fight for extortionate prices for seats. And again, deciding on what you want to believe or not, Ferguson put out some Tweet about what seemed to indicate he wanted to fight Conor at the weekend.

And as much gripe Conor was given for calling Nurmagomedov a 'pull out merchant' folk were pretty quiet when he pulled out of the Ferguson fight.
