When did I ever change my tune? Francis could have taken a risk outside the UFC. Here's an example: Francis vs. Tyson Fury for 100 million, winner takes all. That's a fucking huge risk, and I would give Francis mad props for doing that. Crushing cans for guaranteed pay on the other hand is not a risk for anyone besides PFL and its investors. Plenty of Sherbros would fight Francis for 2 million guaranteed, hell I would do it for half that. I'd walk my fat ass into the cage and just lay on the canvas, wow huge risk on my part!

He fought 3 times in 3 years because the UFC didn't give him fights for ages, I remember Francis talking about this prior to winning the title.

What big risk? Pettis as a washed former UFC champion was getting 750k a fight. Francis was always going to get a multi-million deal outside the UFC. Given his own coach confirmed that his pay would be drastically reduced with a loss against Jon Jones, it's clear the biggest risk would be him staying in the UFC and putting his belt on the line against Jon Jones.

yeah he hoped nobody would sign Francis but there's nothing he can really say to embarrass him now except what he hinted at when he said he didn't want to take risks and acted like fighting Jon Jones was some huge risk. that fight isn't even a risky fight for Francis, if he loses so what? Jon Jones is widely accepted as one of if not the greatest MMA fighter of all times. if he wins though, that is a massive feather in his cap. that fight is one of the reasons i thought it was a mistake for Francis to leave. it was a free shot for one of the biggest fights, legacy wise, in MMA history. he had the chance to kill the King and he passed it up for PFL Africa and a chance to box.

i think Dana knew he couldn't really get at Francis that's why he shit all over PFL like they were incompetent for signing him and he also fucked up big when he started talking about the Middle East money. even though he tip toed around it and tried to throw in some compliments he basically said those guys are dumb for giving 280m to PFL and PFL are dumb for buying another org that is leaking money also. it's kind of funny because the way he described Bellator/PFL was exactly how you could describe UFC when he convinced the Fertitta's to buy it and could describe the UFC all the way up to the 1st TUF. but Dana gonna Dana.
