What big risk? Pettis as a washed former UFC champion was getting 750k a fight. Francis was always going to get a multi-million deal outside the UFC. Given his own coach confirmed that his pay would be drastically reduced with a loss against Jon Jones, it's clear the biggest risk would be him staying in the UFC and putting his belt on the line against Jon Jones.

i don't see how that's some kind of risk. if you lose of course the pay will go down, even more so when you're no longer champion. the flip side is if he beat Jon Jones convincingly and/or finished him in brutal fashion, his stock would've soared through the roof.

Compared to fighting cans for guaranteed multi-million pay, that's a huge risk. The idea that Francis is taking some huge risk outside of the UFC was ludicrous to begin with, given how many second tier orgs are rushing to sign former UFC fighters.
