Media Dana White buys Joe Pyfer a house

If the UFC was meritocratic whatsoever and actually judged talent, then Aliev and Filho should have been signed directly and paid a full wage for their fights with a chance for a bonus, not a 5/5k DWCS fight with no bonus on an obscure telecast nobody watches outside the hardcores
UFC isn’t really transparent with how much they pay their fighters. I have a feeling that they get nice locker room bonuses on the show. Like Pyfer even got a house ffs.

And Contender Series are great. Me and some of my buddies watch it more than the early prelims on UFC events

The series is great because of guys like this and the built up drama around whether these guys will earn a living in the future, rather than the drama of combat which would occur whether in the Apex or the prelims of a stadium card.
Just because you and I both enjoy the fights and the fighters doesn't mean it's not a scammy strategic way for the UFC to gatekeep and not pay a full wage for at least 1 fight and have the ability to cut away everyone after 1 fight, whereas real contracts have almost always allowed guys to get 2+ cracks at the UFC. The Cantender series provides no security of a multi-fight contract even if a guy is proven already and has great tape.

Lack of transparency is not a good thing and making a public hooplah about this one dude getting extra money because he has a sellable backstory doesn't make it a fair way for 99% of potential UFC contenders to have to jump through hoops on the cheap.

<DCWhoa>
Note to all new fighters be a Joe fucking Pyfer.

Myles Jury did something similar when he was in the UFC. He now owns SEVERAL properties and is a millionaire despite NEVER getting a performance bonus and not being one of the highest-paid fighters. There are opportunities for fighters if they make smart decisions and invest wisely. Personally I still think fighters should get a higher percentage of revenue, more in line with boxing and the ball sports, but even in the meanwhile, fighters can spend/save/invest the money they do get better....

Did he actually buy him a house or put some rent down for a year on a place?
The exact quote from Pyfer is:
"He gave me money on the side of Contender. And, really, that secured me being able to have a place to live for the next year."
Basically Dana gave him an unspecified amount of money on the side because he likes him, and Pyfer was able to use it to secure a place to live for at least a year. Not sure if Pyfer paid rent in advance for a year instead of monthly or what. He didn't really specify.

That White privilege.
Sure. White privilege. If you listen to joes interview with Ariel Helwani he talks about his prior living situation and also his financial situation. Talked about his upbringing n how he was beat constantly n how he was feeling suicidal present day. A little bit of sympathy goes a long way, black or white friend.

People get family money or have other income too

The title of the video and this thread says that Dana bought him a house, but nowhere from that timestamp in the video does Dana or the interviewer say that. He asked if he got him a house. Got, not bought, and there's a pretty big difference.

The way the conversation went makes it sound like Dana just got this guy a place to stay and paid the rent for a month or two, not that he outright bought him a house lol.
A year of rent yes sir.

And he gets to stay there an extra month every fight he wins?

Are you that dense? lol Conor was an apprentice Plumber dude, and theres plenty of dudes that have literally done just that, slept in the gym and shit.

Ngannou his first few MMA fights as well.....Tyson when he first started training. Man I'll just end it right there.
You sleeping in the gym you train at isn't being homeless or not having a pot to piss in. Also don't get how Conor being a plumber has anything to do with homeless fighters. Also, Tyson fury started training boxing at 10 when he still lived with his parents. I can't find anything on him being homeless or sleeping in his car, etc. Francis I'll agree with you on, but his situation was much different than this dudes.
