She fought stupid, didnt take time to find her timing. She needs not to get dragged into another brawl.

My man, how could you not enjoy the drama unfold. I was open mouthed , shouting at my TV. That kind of drama is only once every several years. Utterly memorable.
Im mean i guess if you into this kind of narratives.
I for my part didnt enjoy the fight at all and was honestly bored by the display of non existing technique. Sure the upset was unexpected but thats about it.

Me and a few others have been saying Nunes isn't much more than a brawler.

She's never been this technical savant.
She has gotten by simply by overpowering and overwhelming her opponents (that generally fought scared.

I wouldnt say "technical savant" but you watch the matches with Valetina and she was clearly more than a brawler in those fights.

I think the truth is that Nunes can fight pretty technically BUT she can also switch to brawling when she thinks it will be to her advantage, thats what I think happened here, she underestimated Pena and looked to get her out of there in the 2nd round, Pena having some sucess got to her ego and she doubled down.

I'm not sure there's a great path of victory for Nunes. All I see for people saying Nunes will win is that she will "train harder" or "that wasn't the same Nunes." It was the exact same Nunes that showed up against Cat Zingano and every other fighter like her and Pena. She's not evolved. She didn't magically become a new and improved fighter. She just didn't face anyone with the skillset to beat her. She can try to fight a more calm fight the next time, but that means Pena will just be on her more and she'll still get tired eventually. The pressure, pace, cardio and chin is what gives her fits in addition to comparative grappling. She can't rely on her power and can't rest during the fight like every other opponent. It's just a bad stylistic match-up.

I genuinely feel like Nunes got Serra'd and that she will undoubtedly win the rematch.

Pena. I had her in the first fight I'm taking her in this one. I think Nunes will always have a problem with someone who has a good chin, cardio and is strong enough for her not to bully around. The only reason Valentina didn't beat her is because she was too small. I'm taking Pena in the 4th by tko after Nunes gasses

I think she had emptied the gas tank and was having her conor moment. I wonder if the fighting at the higher weight class has made the cut much harder for her.
That could be it also. But I feel she overlooked Pena a bit and wasn't expecting to struggle with her. I don't think she was physically and mentally ready for a hard fight. Her last fight was vs Megan and it was over quick. She got too comfortable with her power and not expecting fighters to stand toe to toe with her. Probably why she doesn't work on striking defense.

Nunes wasnt fighting like herself. Maybe due to longterm Covid complications? If she doesnt fix whatever is wrong she will lose the rematch.

Even when she was striking in the second she was taking deep breaths with hands down and then just swinging wild haymakers. Pena took her best shots and didn't go down.

Personally I think Nunes won't get the belt back with how easily she gave up. Just wanted an easy payday.

She'll need to improve her striking, she has no striking defense that's why Pena was able to use a simple jab so effectively with her. Plus Pena was threatening her on the ground and the grappling exchanges got Nunes tired as well. She will need to improve her grappling/striking cardio and technique for the rematch. She got used to people not fighting back with her striking and she's been grappling vs people without a real ground game. She fought a well rounded fighter this time around.

It’s not often that upsets are reversed. @Kyojiro Kagenuma pointed out Stipe vs DC, and I offered my thoughts on that. Since UFC 1, the person who won the first fight also wins the rematch 62% of the time.

Yes
GSP vs Matt Serra II . I win bye .

wasn't an immediate rematch, ya dummy. GSP fought hughes and koscheck before the rematch. A correct answer in the UFC would have been Stipe/ Cormier 1/2.

Did Nunes had Covid when she lost to Cat Zingano? Alexis Davis , Sarah D. Alelio?? They gave the blue print on how to beat Nunes.

Nunes fought her fight to the people saying she wasn't her usual self. She just fought someone who wasn't her usual opponent. Can she adjust? Maybe. But her last defeat prior to this was to Cat Zingano who is very similar to Pena. That style is just her kryptonite.
