Short answer...If Conor is not a "champion" what is he?

They are saving face by allowing him to hold onto the FW belt.
 
They don't really intend to have Conor drop back and defend the FW belt again. It's pretty much their last resort/safety net.

They figure they'll just promote the interim FW title to undisputed and have him vacate if things go according to plan(Conor somehow winning the LW title).

It's a fucking circus.

what would be even funnier is Conor claiming to be the FW GOAT without a title defence :O
 
That's very messed up from a credibility stand point, but i totally understand why $$$$.
 
Nate is his toughest fight, but I think he'll get it done this time around. RDA is fierce but chinny, that one is a toss up right now
 
This is the reason that they make these Nate/Conor fights at 170. So that they can dismiss the losses and still give him the LW title shot.

I have said in many threads that they would still give Conor the 155 title shot off a 2nd loss to Nate and I was repeatedly told that it would never, ever happen.

No doubt RDA was welcoming the chance to twist Conor, RDA is the LW Champ no need for him to beg or obsess he may not earn Conor pay but he has something Conor needz if he wants to escape the ladder climb to get the LW belt. God knows Conor don't want 145 anymore. Want to super jump all the LW land mines straight to a belt, beat Nate...

Actually he was begging and obsessing for about a month or 2 after Diaz beat McGregor and he got demoted to fight pass.
 
If Dana thinks that he can give Conor a LW title shot after a 2nd loss to Nate and retain what little legitimacy the UFC has, then

UFC wanted so badly to create a MMA Maywheather in McGregor. It all backfired as Nate well knows and now its all about salvaging what remains of the little Irishman.
 
LOL can you imagine if they gave Conor a title fight against RDA after getting whooped by Nate?

I have no idea why Dana was so pissy wasn't like Conor was gonna walk through RDA no matter what Conor said. I actually think Nate whooping Conor was more beneficial financially to UFC business. I believe the only reason why RDA is on Fight Pass is because of Alvarez and his boring Drape & Rape fighting style since being signed, RDA can more than deliver the action it's his dance partner that got them reduced to special TV...

Well LHW wasn't exactly chock full like FW is now. Speaking of which, how insane is featherweight? DHC, Yair, Ortega, Amirkhani, KZ coming back.......

I think that RDA got stuck on Fight Pass instead of UFC 200 because Dana is being vindictive about him pulling out of the Conor fight.

Theres a lot going on there but wtf with the title? Its too weird to have an interim match and al these rising contenders while the belt holder galavants after windmills

Ding ding ding! We have a winner. Every time I hear these bits about Conor's plans, the more I'm convinced he is not (nor wasn't) planning to defend the 145 strap.
