I don't get why people have to defend their golden calf GSP all the time. He doesn't want to fight anymore! but can't fully articulate that because he doesn't want to disappoint. If he wanted the smoke it would have happened already.

Noob! You believe Dana over GSP? Lol! Bottom line is that Dana doesn't want GSP near anywhere one of his Belt anymore point Blank! Then it's a big catch 22 since GSP is only willing to come back for a legacy fight... and that guy happens to be a Champion... while Dana ain't giving GSP a title shot til Hell freezes over! Unless Disney forces him that make that fight... Dana ain't doing it, or he's doing it @ a catchweight... for Khabib! Dana lied in both cases- they both said they want the fight.

I think he is avoiding the fight because he wants Khabib to come back and hold the title. That wouldn't work as well after getting smashed by GSP, who would promptly retire again.

For him to know that GSP doesn’t want the fight he’d have to speak to him or his team lol. He hasn’t said he’s never spoke to GSP he said he doesn’t want the fight, which translates to he wants to be paid more.

GSP wants to fight Khabib or Conor only. That's the reason he isn't fighting and everyone knew Khabib and GSP both wanted this fight. GSP retired when the fight was off the table and Khabib retired as well for personal reasons but was also upset he couldn't get the fight his dad wanted. If the GSP fight is the only way to get Khabib back from retirement UFC will make it happen but he'll have to fight with Conor if he wins or a contender that's up for the title shot. That's why they are saying Khabib has to see something from the fights to make him want to come back. Also Dana already brought up the GSP fight, and if that was the only option that means he's got some work to do. So he's aware that Khabib wants that fight.

Anyone with half a brain knew Khabib was being rash when he said he wouldn't be fighting anymore.

He's coming back. If Conor beats Porier then Dana will throw the entire UFC checkbook at them to make the fight happen. If Porier wins...then we might see Do Bronx vs Khabib...then Khabib will have just about cleaned out the entire division and can peacefully retire 30-0 (should he get past Do Bronx).

How many years ago was that? He has stated in interviews that he would love to fight Conor also. But Conor doesn't have a belt so it doesn't interest him at the moment. Once Conor does it will interest GSP again. GSP wants to be triple champ. It's very easy to figure out what GSP's goals are judging by his career choices. There is a reason why GSP is slimmer than he's ever been. He's getting his body used to training/fighting at a lower weight so he can eventually try for 3rd belt either vs Khabib or Conor. Most likely it'll be vs Khabib because that's the fight that Khabib wants and it may be the only way to keep Khabib fighting.
