Dana keeping Big Frank on the shelf

No worries, I agree people start the stripping titles discussion far too quick and can be irrational.

Dana was ridiculous with the whole Ford Escort stuff but a lot of it wasn't really Francis' fault. Honestly that was the perfect recipe for failure. I agree with others that Dana's ego is still hurt and he holds a grudge. If it was anyone else coming off of four first round finishes he would be all over it. I don't think Dana's word means much but we'll see how it plays out.
Dana's kind of stuck with Francis. He's clearly at least the 3rd best HW in a shallow division and will continue to fight for a few more years.

I don't know if I'd go so far as to say Dana's stalling because of a grudge, but for sure he isn't hurrying things up. All that talk about Francis' ego after the fight, and it wasn't just about how he performed in the cage. I got the strong sense that he felt Ngannou wasn't grateful enough for what was done for him — money out of Dana's pocket to assuage him when he complained about not getting a bonus for the Overeem fight, etc — and simply accepted it as his due. Contrast that with Cormier, whose bootlicking knows no bounds, and you can see why Dana favored a trilogy fight for DC regardless if it meant Francis had to wait that much longer.
