Dana keeping Big Frank on the shelf

What does Dana have to gain by keeping the biggest KO puncher in the sport on the sidelines?
Agreed. But it also seems he has nothing to lose. That's the beauty of monopolies. Everything you do is right, no matter how wrong it is.

How long since Weili Zhang last fought? 10 months or so? Funny how you schitzo clowns never mention any other champs, but stipe cant get 4 months off without a hoard of tards screeching STRIP HIMMM

Sheesh. We've been through this already.

1. Ngannou wants a title shot,
2. Dana wants to give him the title shot, but
3. the champ fought less than 4 months ago because
4. Dana wanted to give DC a final crack at Stipe more than he wanted to give Ngannou a title shot.

This thread isn't about Weili Zhang. Her opponent was injured and it's a completely different situation.

It's been four months with nothing booked. That means it will likely be at least 6-7 months before the belt is defended again. That's pretty hilarious considering Stipe's last three fights have been against the same person dating back to 2018. Also I never claimed anyone should be stripped, from the sounds of it you may want to reflect inwards on being a "schizo".

I'll believe Uncle Goof wants to give Big Frank the shot when it's booked.

He needs to sell tickets once people are allowed back in arenas. That's why he keeps running these flyweight fights in the empty arenas. Fig is not moving tickets IRL . Dana needs actual real fights once he can sell real tickets.

Its not a bad guess per se but conor is gonna fight in one month.

I like stipe too but he does not fight enough these past few years.
This stupid trilogy with cormier did not help either i guess.

Why should a 6 or 7 month gap between defenses, a perfectly usual period, be considered hilarious if the previous contenders were really all the same person? 25 minutes of hard fighting still impacts the same, it's not like you've gained antibodies for someone's punches from having fought the guy before.

May I remind you that 2/3rds of the trilogy wasn't Stipe's idea? Dana pushed for the first one, Cormier pushed for the third. And those were the title defenses for Stipe. The only fight you could fault Stipe for demanding and delaying his own fighting schedule for was the second. But that was in pursuit of a title shot rematch...like Ngannou is now doing.

May I also remind you, that after the Ngannou-Overeem fight Dana couldn't book the title shot fast enough. Contracts were signed in a week, the date set for merely a month and a half in the future. Stipe made no fuss about being stuck with a short camp during holiday season. Francis may have amply re-earned a title shot now, but that doesn't mean he's due the same haste in arranging it.

May I remind you that I'm more commenting on Dana. You're being far too defensive of Stipe when the point of this is more in regards to Dana. I agree most of what's happened was his idea. As for the 6-7 month gap, that's a best case scenario. And yes, legitimate challengers do actually deserve more respect than to not have an idea of what's going on and being put on the shelf for half a year.

time. he needs time to figure out and negotiate the fights that are best for UFC's bank. his best way is Jon fights Stipe and the winner gets Ngannou, but i think Big Frank doesn't want to wait and will be pissed if he gets passed over for Jon/Stipe. that's what i think is holding them back, that and whether Jon even wants to do it.

Yeah, I should've taken out the second paragraph. Sorry, I've been so used of late countering the idiots demanding to Strip Stipe!! (some of who pop their heads up in this thread) that I kind of went into automatic mode.

Still...Francis had heaven and earth moved for him the first time, I can't feel sorry for him if the second time is more bedeviled by circumstances. He has a promise from Dana of getting the next slot (not matter how unreliable it is) and a rough window of time, and that's still a lot better than others have been given. Especially in these crazy times where schedules have been molded and remolded time and time again, it isn't easy or even wise to plan much further ahead.

Exactly
" Bbbbbut China!"

It's comical. If Jones will fight Stipe and it will end up more than half a year lost here after that fight because those guys simply don't fight.

Dana dosen't seem to like Francis much anymore. With how badly he failed last time he was given the shot, and the fact that Dana has been verbal about Francis's ego problems I don't know that he has a lot of confidence in him as the top guy like he used to as far as booking.

No worries, I agree people start the stripping titles discussion far too quick and can be irrational.

Dana was ridiculous with the whole Ford Escort stuff but a lot of it wasn't really Francis' fault. Honestly that was the perfect recipe for failure. I agree with others that Dana's ego is still hurt and he holds a grudge. If it was anyone else coming off of four first round finishes he would be all over it. I don't think Dana's word means much but we'll see how it plays out.

Ts is right. I'm surprised Dana doesn't have big frank hovering over his shoulder and in his ear all day asking for a title shot.

Jon has been pretty active throughout his career when he's not suspended by USADA. Jon would definitely fight Frank sooner than Miocic would.
