If Dana didn't have Jon's dick in his mouth we would have gotten Francis vs Tom.

Perhaps someone from 205 would have tried to have a crack too but due to the Jon situation nobody wants to go up to heavyweight and get fucked about.
 
It is just Fedor insecurity.

Dana invested marketing after marketing after marketing to try to remove any sentiment that Fedor, a non-UFC guy, is GOAT.

At this point he is actually tanking his most visible division solely for bullshit marketing (see any of the PR posters on this site to see it in action). He is going head over heels for a guy who will not compete and will not pay off that marketing in any sense, solely because the alternative (not promoting a guy who won't compete) hurts the GOAT argument. It is quite funny to watch him sink the sport due to insecurity actually.

Dana doesn't give a fuck about that overrated Pride freakshow fighter. Bellator already did a good enough job of making him look like a can.
 
I thought after November, the UFC would have all the leverage. That they would either force Jones to the table, or move on. Because it's not like this situation just developed in November, its been playing for a while. Turns out they were praying for Pereira to win so they could make that fight instead (either with Jones or as leverage against him), and that blew up their plan. Now Jones knows how much the UFC is sweating him. He's seen them put Tom on ice for another 6 months already. He knows he's got them by the balls. They're showing their whole diminished hand by still pursuing it. He's asking a price the UFC can't make any money on, and they are stubborn as shit so they're trying not to budge. But Jones has all the leverage because he can sit on his figure all day. He doesn't want this fight. He's said it over and over again. Pay me my price or kick rocks. Pretty sweet spot for him.

The reason the UFC doesnt have any leverage? Because they blew up the HW division two years ago to make the 2 Jones fights. That was the trade off. The 5 or 6 or whatever guys who could've all been in the mix and been fighting with an actual belt in play, that's all been sacrificed to ride the whims of a diva and this is how that comes out in the wash. Those fights that would'e mattered either happened already or are pointless in the current situation. There isn't anything else that can happen at HW right now. They're chasing this fight so hard because they scorched everything to get to this point.....but mostly this will be a nightmare they never live down if they fuck this all up completely.

The UFC will ultimately cave to Jones price. When, who knows. That's my prediction. They're in too deep to back out here.
 
JJ is the #1 fighter in UFC history. Why would Dana want to screw him of all people?
 
Dana always made the claim that they are better than boxing because they make the fight people want to see. They make the top two guys fight each other. In the last 5 years they made the HW division into everything people hated about boxing, while boxing put together some of the biggest HW fights they've had in a long time.
 
Jones is the most hated MNA fighter of all time. His legacy is tarnished.
 
How many fights does Jones have left on his contract? Is there a chance he signs with another org for more money and beats up Fedor, and bankrupts that org.
 
It's really simple. Jon Jones is blackmailing Dana // the UFC.

IMO Jon's absence from fighting during 2020-2023 wasn't just because of Ngannou. The NSAC said at his 2019 hearing that one more anti-doping violation would be a lifetime ban. But the UFC has an NDA with USADA. I think the UFC forced USADA to keep quiet about another anti-doping violation for Jon Jones, and USADA agreed for Jon to be internally suspended, without releasing the report to the NSAC.

I believe this is why USADA ultimately declared their relationship with the UFC "untenable", because it's a literal crime to hide anti-doping violations from the NSAC.

IMO now Jon Jones is threatening to spill the beans if the UFC doesn't do what he wants.

he's clinging to the last megastar they have. mount rushmore is set in stone and all the others have long ago ridden off into the sunset. no gsps, no conors, no andersons, i mean no one these days is even close, in stature, in title reigns, in general allure. the jones situation is a sign of the general desperation level right now.
 
They need to just strip Jon, promote Tom to undisputed and put the UFC PR machine behind Tom. Yes the HW division might not be that stacked right now but when you have a big guy putting people to sleep inside one, thats like Mike Tyson level stuff there. People will tune in eventually, especially if Tom keeps winning. Glazing Jon for one more fight at best is just dumb at this point.

lol @ playing the "freakshow" card when the guy you are defending, over 5 fucking years, literally fought no one besides a white belt kickboxer and an old man. Fucking shit shouldn't have ever been sanctioned.
