Dana: GSP won rounds 1, 3, 5.

Which is why a vast majority of MMA media figures , fighters, and fans scored the bout 48-47 for Johny Hendricks. He won the first round, dear.

First round was definitely close, I personally gave it to hendrick also, but wasn't that shocked people scored it for gsp, my biggest problem with it was the rounds hendrick won he actually beat gsp up, the rounds gsp one it was just based on scoring criteria, he was the best at using the scoring system to his advantage, and I think that's why lots of fans stopped hanging from the guys nut sack.
Either way Hendricks is champ now, GSP is lucky he got out before he had to fight Hendricks again, lawler, Woodley, Lombard, brown all the new breed 170ers that are on a tear right now imo

Fortunately for GSP it includes the only ones who are relevant.

relevant to GSP and his official record only though. And his most stubborn fangirls I guess.

but the truth doesn't exist on official records, it's not ink on a piece of paper.
It is what it is and most people saw it when they watched that fight and knew it. Knew that Hendricks had won.

i remember a story came out days after the fight that said dana said he made a mistake and rewatched it and gsp won the fight

So...Big Rigg got robbed by the judges in the GSP fight. And now he stole Robbie's victory with judges help...fair enough for me.

That's exactly where it exists - as compared to what some random fan thinks.

Well seeing as he actually lost that seems to devaluate your argument quite a bit.

Again: I scored the fight 48/47 Hendro after watching it first and 48/47 Hendro after watching it again (with a very close rd 1).
This means that I think Hendo should have gotten the nod.

I am however not confusing my subjective pov for a fact.

Fact is the judges - and really they are the only ones that matter - scored it for GSP so GSP won it. Deal with it and stop making an ass out of yourself.

You and I agree, love. It was certainly a close round. I was responding to this silly chap:

That's the stance to have. I scored the first for GSP when I watched but I'd argue against anyone that says what you quote. It was a close round and you can argue for both without being ignorant. The rules aren't even exact enough not to require any individual interpretation, which is because there's too many factors in MMA to make the rules that exact.

Even with experts I'm divided. I generally like to listen to Sonnen and Florian in their breakdowns of fights. They really get into the rules and argue from that. On the other hand I often like Luke Thomas breakdowns too, and he scored it differently than I and it's nothing wrong or strange about that.

The only time it's wrong is when someone says that Hendricks won as a fact, as he obviously didn't (the ultimate criteria to win on points, in practice, is to be awarded the win by the judges).

Add me to that list. Wait, what's my name?

Very simply:

When the bell rang at the end of round 5....

I don't believe there is a single person that thought, "Oh yeah! GSP! Way to go!"

Hell no. I wouldn't believe them even if they said it.

I'm appreciative of where the UFC has taken mma; corralling the majority of the best fighters in the world into one organization so I can see them compete against each other.

But I'm not appreciative of the fact they've turned a fight into a sport. It's a fight.

Edit: What I say UFC I mean since the new ownership.

Add revanchism and you have the main ingredients for the Hendro won dat fight crowd.

As I have multiply stated:
- I scored it 28/27 Hendro (gave him rd. 1)
- I am however not delusional enough to state my opinion as a fact

Nobody calls him Hendro. Stop that.

But I not appreciative of the fact they've turned a fight into a sport. It's a fight.

No, that confusion is your own fault. It's a sport as a "real" fight doesn't have rules and will play out differently because of that. Fighters train to win under the rules of the encounters they are likely to have, and MMA fighters obviously train with MMA rules in mind.

It's a sport.

Again, it doesn't matter what scores you put down on a piece of paper. That's not the truth. The truth is your are just a butthurt GSP fan.

Of course it matters. In practice the winner of a decision is the person the judges say is the winner. That's how the process works. One might think that the scores should have been different, but that's a vastly different thing than to say that they don't matter.

So explain deeper how the scores don't matter. Should be fun.

It's a sport.

Fighting is illegal.

Football is a sport. It's also football.
A dancing competition is a sport, it's also dancing.

Fighting is legal when the government oversees the fight and makes sure the rules are observed. But it's not unreasonable to talk about about the rules, especially when it comes to judging.

I can't believe people are still petty enough to argue this much about gsp vs hendricks. GSP is retired and Hendricks got the belt. It doesn't matter anymore.

You guys have lost the meaning. The original ufc was created as a fight. To see which discipline was the most effective.

The first ufc's were untimed rounds, no weight classes and the absolute fewest rules possible to try and protect the fighters health.

Yes, now it's a sport. That's my point. It was created as a fight.
Now it's been turned into a sport.

That's part of what creates the problem in the judging.
The pride judging rules are a perfect example - they looked at it as a fight.
