Charged in to gime on bike, gonads have swollen.
Pranced around trying to get rid of my stiffness.
Gi BJJ passing full guard tech:
Grip fighting, both hands on belt and posture up, swim hand under uke sleeve and out getting grip, clamp gripped sleeve under other hand that still has belt simultaneously stand on same side, swap grips and use free hand to open same side leg, knee slice with opposite leg keeping grip on uke sleeve, force uke sleeve across body switching legs out of their guard, knee to remain in slice position against floor until uke arm secure to floor, free hand can snake under uke head to grab trapped sleeve, drive to achieve side control....lesson from prof. ends here, randori has begun, new lesson from rolling partner: keep hips as heavy as possible and stay high on uke chest, close leg switched under, far arm across uke with elbow on mat and hand on jaw 'sexy pose', if uke far arm flat then can kimura, can also straighten arm for arm bar, or can use closer forearm to crush throat.
When using full guard:
Trap one arm, hand on sleeve and hand on elbow, pull to one side, hip escape to other side and trap uke leg with own, bump off other leg and jerk toward side of trapped leg.
Feels:
Leave early, bummed, probably do Sat class on the hegular instead. Negotiate with her when I get home. Gi soaked, invest in something lighter IE ripstoppe.
Tried to go hard on first couple of partners who are at my level in nogi, they def technically better, burnt out arms toward the end of second roll, I'll adapt.
Tapered off and took advantage of stripes and blue to get some extra lessons, otherwise woulda been crushed.
Need tape.

OK first Gi.

Chilled jam on the bag, played with some feints, hip flexors are sooooooooo tight.
Had a super light roll with mma dude, tried judo style attack on his turtle: need to secure arms quickly, tried d'arce: need to snake arms in with more speed, tried omoplata from triangle: need to secure uke waist as soon as I sit up, tried butterfly sweep: need to sit up harder.

Cheah bol

Pm:
Body weight sesh as little rest as possible
Kips-6 to 1 ladder=56
Presses-12 to 1=78
5*5 dips to shoulder=25

Neck not so achy breaky this morn, did some iso exercises with belt last night, maybe 300 reps in 10 min. Windy as fork today, ran into a headwind..boooooooo.

Got to gym and learned new back take from half: block uke as in Prof. Osiander's vid above, if uke reaches for key with inside arm pull uke's outside arm to floor, they now have four points of contact on the floor, you can now take their back, also sweep of side control: if uke has far arm hooked and near arm under head do simultaneous hip up reach around uke waist with arm closest to head arm hook and grasp back of own knee, bump to leg side for sweep, must be one continuous motion, ideal sweep for lanky opponent. Cheers old lion and tree trunk.

No Gi tech / Ankle lock from 50/50:
Inside foot blocks inside uke thigh and closes to grasp uke across trapped leg, ensure this is tight or they will come up and scramble out, your outside foot sits on uke's thigh, grasp uke trapped foot in arm pit, elbow on floor, close and draw bony part of own wrist into uke Achilles, point thumb toward ceiling and drive in that direction, draw elbow into hip, roll slightly in direction of that arm, lean backward if necessary. Note: this sub puts pressure on the first metatarsal and related tendons and Achilles.

Randori:

Today I was the nail. I made a couple of silly mistakes IE left arms out and in bad positions and I got caught, No dishepect to the skills of my classmates but I think this was due to fatigue more than anything, IE could have fought out of an arm bar, body was fatigued so spirit followed suit.

I need to drill escapes off of both sides as I brain fart when trapped on my goofy side, IE got Kesa'd (sic) by old lion AGAIN, only needed to switch legs out and get arms in to block, shrimp etc etc, also need to drill simple passes and ensure I have finishing details wired in as I kept getting re-guarded, Iron man gets the tiniest toe on me and I'm in his full again. Also could have used guillotine step over escape but was too slow and got rolled to back.

Aim to roll with most challenging partners at start of class/week or when feeling fresh, fight subs and pass guards........and maintain strong position without getting swept.........and get into strong position before attempting sub...and and and and

4*4@100
5*1@120
4*1@130
5*8@70

Today's deads with double over grip, 120-180sec between sets:
3*5@80
2*5@100, grip failed on 3rd.
3*1@120, failed 130 fuckit fuckit fuckit, my ass said no, the right cheek specifically.
1*120
3*2@110
2*5@80

Maybe increase warm up sets and reduce weight back to 70 or increase rest, dunno,we'll see.
Did some bridges with battle rope for support, also some front bridges on mma bag, light stretch, sugar, off to mahi.

Will do some slamming of the mma bag instead of skipping next week.

Biked and got warm, my old mate fucky knee is back.
Pummeled then new throws, from prof.: when you have underhook sweep uke arm up and over, uke should step out to anchor, drop to same side knee, ankle pick and drive. from old lion: when under-hooked arm is swept up you must have control of uke far arm at elbow, hip in to uke and float over lower back...............so much stoke.

Prof. tech, Notes on ankle lock from 50/50:

Scoot in reverse shrimp, hand grasping hand using over grip (monkey), make sure you feel uke's toes are trapped, pressure on lock comes from twisting torque, own elbow to ribs and slight roll of grasping hand, if necessary roll over slightly to side, if necessary drive hips forward toward uke knee, you can escape this by driving trapped foot all the way through and butt scooting.

Randori lessons:
Strip hands when kimura'd (sic)..........Roll with challenging uke first.

Friday Gi class

Bike to gym and do air squats, crunches and skip to get warm, 300e squats/crunches.

Easy drills then ankle pick with uke: One foot on hip, same side arm grasp sleeve, opposite arm grasp lapel (fake guard pull), yank down ensuring you have broken uke posture, switch 'guard' foot to floor and (lapel arm) knee to floor, switch sleeve arm to ankle, punch lapel arm forward and yank ankle driving uke to back.

Prof tech, sweep from de la riva (right side):
If uke grinds your right leg out switch arm grip to under thigh/ around uke ankle and monkey own ankle. Left leg hooks behind uke knee, left arm switches grip from lapel to under hook of uke right leg, own left leg punches forward, right hip up above uke right knee, arm releases own right leg and triangle own legs, sit up and come on top, maintaining left arm hook and triangle of legs, scoot knees to right hand side and drive, get new grips and switch legs out, drive and mount.

Randori: When attempting knee slice pass maintain single arm under hook of leg to help stop re-guard, driving this leg can cause discomfort, research bow and arrow and baseball bat choke set ups, where to be and how to get there, especially the lapel grip. When sprawled out on top arm hook uke outside leg to improve controll and prevent scramble, if they switch hips then hook inside leg.

Oss to the homies and homettes

Monday

This morn I got to gym late so had 45 to have a play, was going to have a jam on the bag but realized I have in fact turned to shit.

Did some over shoulder throws with mma bag then bridge with battle rope, practiced speed/ knee slice drill then did the same throw with mma bag from deep squat then bridge with battle rope, did throw to break fall from ass to grass squat then threw a few shitty punches at the bag and some re-guard dills, maybe about 30 min work in total.

Throw feels good, maybe use it in condit session once I have it sussed off of both sides, use bridge at end of session.

1 round:
1min throwing
1min bag movement
1min sprawl
1min bear crawl/ alligator
1min shot
1min rest

Add or remove exercise depending on proficiency and output ability, do multiples of up to 5 rounds then add another exercise and reduce rounds back to 3, repeat.

Need sleep first felt shattered today, had about three uninterrupted hours last night.

Tuesday

Solid 7 hours last night...mai god, boys immune system is firing...dub jew.
Get to gym and have chats and what have you......

Wrestling tech from purps: From right, have back standing, double under and gable or S grip, right arm under floating, head pressure in against uke neck, wrench up right arm and walk out left feet pointed to uke head, uke should post left hand, can now half nelson with right to pressure uke to floor, get hooks in and options....if uke stands from all fours, keep gable or S, look to sit on heels to enable drive for takedown, drive up and options....

Main man not in, big homie purp takes class: Simple drills then pummel, arm drag, take back play. Single leg X drill: uke strips leg and looks to pass, block passing leg then re-guard. Single leg X sweep (from right): uke has passed, frame their right leg with your left arm keeping hold on their left, also have your left leg out ready to switch back for reverse shrimp, switch out and in re-guarding to single X.

Randori lessons:

I learn and forget this every class: Elbows always in, do not look to grasp (bear) uke when they are in side control, keep arms in and frame their throat using wrist rotation. Do not keep bridge, for power pendulum legs up and then bridge.
When in good d'arce position from right step over uke head with left for another choke.
Manuia to the hamo purp, thanking you and fellow whaitch beltch.

The androgogy is chur.

8 hours sleep................

No gi take-downs w prof.:

From hegular stance standing, side step and squat to uke forward leg with head inside, high crotch and monkey pinching leg between own, step right out and over lifting uke leg to own hip, right arm moves to over hook uke shoulder, left leg moves to sweep supporting leg as right arm turns uke, follow uke to ground.... uke can: knee shield trapped leg into your hip and reach under outside arm into deep underhook control to defend, in this case: lift trapped leg high into arm pit and posture high using hips, drop and explode forward for double.

Randori lessons:
Set up triangle off back two on one then release, uke will posture then switch hips and cinch legs for arm bar.

Need to drill entry to take down.
Maybe also do some kind of Zercher lift.

From the FAQ:
[1] Get on your side, facing your opponent. You do not want to be flat on your back.
[2] You must win the grip battle, and position your arms correctly. Best is if you can obtain an underhook with your far arm, and using your near hand as a "paw" to keep his other arm from hooking under your head or extending your near arm. Keep your elbows tight on your chest, acting as a barrier between you opponent and yourself.
[3] Do NOT allow your opponent to do one of three things: (a) underhook your far arm; (b) hook an arm under your head; (c) pull/push up on your near arm so that your near elbow is no longer serving as a barrier between your body and your opponent's body. If your opponent does any of these, you are basically screwed. If you are serious about escaping side control, you cannot let any of these happen, or your escapes are not likely to work.
[4] If you cannot get the underhook, then you will want to keep both of your arms folded on your chest, but placing the last third of your forearm, including the elbow, in (a) the armpit and (b) the hip of your opponent, so that both of your opponents arms are on the other side of your body, and your elbows are pressed up against his flank by your head. This is sometimes called "pin prevention posture." In order to get your far arm past your opponent's arms and under his armpit, try pushing on his elbow, as though you were trying to push him over you.

These first steps are CRUCIAL, and often not taught to beginners. If you lose the battle for positioning at the start, you are going to fail in your escape attempts.

[5] BRIDGE! Okay --- so your arms are in position. You are ready to escape. The first thing you must do is MAKE SPACE FOR YOUR HIPS. You do this by explosively bridging into your opponent. Make sure to bridge over one shoulder, towards your opponent, not straight up.
[6] Now SHRIMP your hips as far away as possible, rotating on your shoulder, using your arms to keep your opponent in place while your hips drive away. Repeat if necessary.
[7] At this point you will have your hands against your opponent, be on your side, and your hips will be far away. You have two choices here: Go to your knees or pull your near knee across his stomach, straighten out, and reestablish your guard. Work between them. If you insist on just doing one, you will not likely get it. Take what you can get.

That's it. Now, there are two additional "sweep" escapes that you can add after you master the basic shrimp escape dynamic --- sweeping your opponent over you (block his arm, grab a leg, and send him right over you), or driving into your opponent and flipping him over ("swim" your far arm into him as you switch base and drive). Both of these escapes require good timing, and for your opponent to be unbalanced. Even more important, both of these escapes require that your opponent be NEARLY PARALLEL to you, rather than perpendicular (as with normal side control). try to get your legs close to his legs, and distance your head/upper body, so that you are almost side by side. The "sweep" escapes will then become far easier. Usually these sweep escapes are good to do while your opponent is preoccupied with attacking (such as an Americana) or is busy trying to defeat a shrimping escape.

Gi Class:

Won't get into details of technique taught as don't think I'll use it, I think I did ok in class but really just need to roll a truckload more. Discussed training with tree trunk, dude has an extreme race coming and is a year older than me, interesting to hear and observe how he manages.
Randori and other lessons:
Rolled with blue uke who smelled how wifey did 15 years ago, had my brain all kinds of fucked up with reminiscing over good old days, choke danger forced refocus, feel like an asshole and that god is watching.
Two of my fellow white's really reiterated via physical demonstration that the simple techniques are the most effective, enjoyed surviving their weight, in some ways I feel like I need to put myself in danger regularly, but I also need to practice staying out of bad positions...fine line I guess.
Stripey white caught me with same chokes in gi as he does in no gi.
Old lion showed me some more judo pinning stuff and weight distribution.
I need to increase muscle endurance, forearms etc, will try and do a couple of body weight sessions over the weekend.

Cuddle my bebe
Eat some spinach

No gi escape side control as per Prof. Osiander et al.
Also Prof at school shows us:

(From right) right arm at uke throat, left arm hooks under hip, right arm switches to hook under chest, pendulum legs toward uke head rolling onto knees and into headlock control.

Randori

Dont sit and respond, it's better to attack, my worst postion is with uke in North South control, from here I can only switch hips and go North South Turtle but I'm still fucked, if I cant isolate an arm or sweep I should look to sit up and get on top or to uke's back or side. When transitioning/mounting keep hips in and/ or chest/shoulders under uke ribs.

Need to hang with waitch belt homies and drill escape and come up's, I can get my arms in good positions really quick for chokes I just need to get the rest of my body there quickly and solidly too.

Think Red Schaefers no gi baseball bat works really well, locked it on loosely and uke tapped quick.
