Cyborg making 135lb debut in December.

Woo finally, now she can go to ufc and get mauled by Ronda like the rest and stfu

If she does then Ronda is female GOAT and should just retire and stop making up fictional beefs to create fight interest when we all know she's levels above most females. Cyborg is probably the toughest challenge for Ronda and if she eats her up then nothing more to be proven and we can get back to DUDE fights.

No it shouldn't have been.

Cyborg hasn't fought MMA since July, 2013 and she's never fought at 135, her record is also littered with cans. She doesn't deserve a title shot at all.

Forget the politics, everyone wants to see her smash Ronda's face now for the title, plus it will make huge PPV dollars.

Would it?

If we're just talking about a fight that sells wouldn't that be Gina vs R3?

Go down to your local sports bar and ask a random person who Cyborg is.

be cool if she beats ronda...then all these shameless dickriders who suddenly popped up after she beat tate in the rematch can lay low...

Sure, because dominant champions in combat sports just usually up and retire right in the middle of their athletic primes.

ronda's case is special because she is already doing movies and stuff and there's not a lot of prospects in her weight to satisfy her competitive lust...

if she can clean out the division and beat cyborg she may garner enough interest to ride the hollywood train and retire from fighting early, fighting professionally isn't the easiest job...

If they are MMA fans at the local sports bar, believe me they will know who Cyborg is

I disagree.

There are MMA fans that don't troll the forums or pay much mind to WMMA. I don't think they know who Cyborg is anymore.

These are the people that are going to make a big fight sell.

Gina vs R3 will sell like crazy because they're both hot. It is what it is.

I think as long as she's passionate about fighting then she'll continue to fight. I think she's basically said as much before. When she lost her passion for judo she retired.

Perhaps the lack of big purses and PPV points that came with judo contributed towards her loss of passion.

Not sure I agree with you there. Both Gina and Cyborg would have to be re-introduced to the wider public through effective fight marketing, but I think Ronda/Cyborg would be an easier fight to market and pull bigger numbers because there are so many in the MMA media treating Gina's possible return with a lot of skepticism and making it out to be sort of a joke. Cyborg can more effectively be marketed as a monster and threat. I still think Ronda/Cyborg is the biggest money MMA fight on the horizon - and note I didn't say "WMMA".

I definitely see your point and part of R3's draw is people wanting to see her lose so Cyborg benefits from that front.

But I still think Gina vs R3 sells more because, well, America is superficial.

FINALLY...

We have been hearing since the inception of Ronda's arrival on the big show, how Cyborg would be the one to beat her. Now (depending on if she beats all opposition up to it) we will get to see if those accolades will carry out into the real world.

I wonder who she will fight.

Should have been a straight title shot..especially at the end of the year...they could have promoted the hell out of it.

You would want to risk losing another title fight? What happened to Barao/Cejudo could happen to Cyborg. Let her prove she can make weight first.

Talk about a match up that has lost some steam. Cyborg needs to beat the scale twice and win two fights, imo, before this fight is even feasible. Hopefully she wins and has a quick turn around because she has been on the sidelines for awhile.

Seems fine.
If she can make weight, pisses clean, and wins like she should, then she gets the next shot at Ronda.
