Feels like the game I’ve been waiting for since I got into RPGs. I love the setting so much.
 
And Bethesda is shitting their pants.

The bar for expectations for Elder Scrolls 6 just rose considerably, and if they think ES6 can be another half-assed streamlined buggy mess, they're wrong.
People are getting tired of the same old shit year after year. Fallout 5, Assasins Creed 12? Madden 20, Call Of I stopped counting, Battlefield 20, Halo 9.

At this point I would get excited if there was a new Bubble Bobble game.
One thing Fallout and Elder scrolls have going for them is incredible history/Lore. Bethesda has shown us in the past that they can deliver interesting stories and compelling open worlds

I still liked Fallout 4, the gunplay felt great. It's no New Vegas, but I love all the little lore details you can find scattered around the world. The main story/writing sucked, and the choices were an insult, but Far Harbour was a taste of what they are still capable of. Nick Valentine is still the best thing going in FO4.

Seeing CDPR usurp them in every way with the Wticher 3 and now Cyberpunk must have them working extra hard at delivering something special for Elder Scrolls VI and whatever Starfield is going to be. I can't see them matching CDPR's stellar writing, but I expect great things from Bethesda post Fallout 76, I have zero interest in that.

I hope you are right. I love TES and want them to come up with a quality game.
 
Seeing some people feel underwhelmed by the gameplay demo simply because they got way too overhyped by the first trailer. That’s a personal problem because the only other developer that I can see making a game this size look this good is Rockstar.

If Cyberpunk releases and tears up the sales chart with Bethesda-level sales, and it probably will because all the buzz about it and 7+ years of anticipation, it will become a trendsetter other developers will attempt to emulate.

I.E. influential.

I'm not saying 3DProjectRed will become the next Rockstar (GTA), but if this game exceeds everyone's already-too-high expectations, there's a possibility they'll become a MAJOR developer within the industry.
 
Looks good. Haven't played a good first person rpg since fallout new Vegas. FO4 is just an action shooter with building, took all the rpg elements out of the game to streamline it for the casual gamer because "it just works!".
 
i would never consider fallout 4 to be an rpg. and possibly some others listed. i dunno. not sure if RPGs have an identity crisis or if shit just got lazy. i suppose a case could be made for arpg, but then it's a different can of mootworms, anyway.

Don't forget Morrowind. That and New Vegas are probably the most true RPG's of the list. You can pretty much be whatever you want in those games, as we have a limited backstory.

Morrowind came out in 2002, and its difficult to gauge the comparative influence of games of today and 16 years ago.

With New Vegas, it was a buggy mess at launch even compared to Bethesda RPGs. It was quickly forgotten by console players but on PC its only maintained popularity because of big fixes and fan-created mods.

Hell, NV's improvements didn't even inspire Bethesda to step up their game for Skyrim or Fallout 4.

It's a shame, but that sort of became Obsidian's hallmark for a little while, they're one of my favourite devs of the last 15 years but It always felt like their ambition and scope for their games was always outstripped by their resources. Alpha Protocol, KOTOR 2 and Fallout NV all had potential to be highly rated games, but instead we got bug filled messes that couldn't quite fulfill their true potential (though still excellent games IMO).

Though it seems like they're heading in the right direction in recent years with Stick of Truth and Pillars of Eternity being well received. I'd love to see Obsidian get another crack at a Star Wars or Bethesda property with actual backing behind them.

Morrowind was def niche compared to Skyrim, and Oblivion, the latter being Bethesda Game Studios breakthrough title, but Morrowind still sold around 4 to 5 million copies. It's their most important title IMO, and arguably their best. Without its success, the studio might have gone under. Without those fans too, Oblivion wouldn't have had so much excitement/free advertising hyping it up on forums. I still remember how pumped I was seeing the reveal for the 360 at E3.

Agreed on New Vegas too. Fallout 4 was such a let down compared to it, except the gun play. It was buggy AF too. i don't think I played it until about a year after release, thanks to some needed fan mods/patches.

I was kinda underwhelmed with the gamplay I saw. I mean I am sure i'll buy it and i'll have tons of fun but from what I heard at E3 with that private viewing was that the game was groundbreaking and I am not seeing it as of now... I dunno. i'll have to watch more vids to get a better feel for it.

I think its definitely the presentation more than the actual mechanics. Personally, thats fine for me.

Their biggest problem was definitely QA and they have improved that but in their defense, they got fucked on each of those projects whether it's Sega cutting their funding and barring them from working on the game further and not allowing them to patch it more post launch, LucasArts wanting them to conceive and ship a game with barely a years worth of dev time and Bethesda sabotaging their own ip by giving them 18 months to make it and not doing proper QA for that game. Obsidian definitely messed up in spots but they took most of the blame when the publishers were equally if not more the cause of the buggy launches.
 
Does it have a release date btw? Part of me hopes it's still a ways off.
 
Im predicting 2020.

I'd be fine with that. I don't see this game on current gen consoles, if it is they will have to make all sorts of compromises. Plus it gives me time to build a new PC :D
 
The dialogue in this game is really awful, I'm quite shocked.

"I got news the size of my balls."

Fuck and cunt every other sentence.

Just seems really lazy and like an edgy teenager trying to prove he is an adult by using tons of bad language
