It's an RPG with stats, loot, skill trees, dialog etc.

Nothing like GTA.

If anything, its probably Deus Ex on steroids.

'Nothing like GTA' is very inaccurate. Its a giant & realistic (while still being futuristic) open world, most of it in a giant Californian city. It has an emphasis on organized crime in which you play as an free agent available to work for multiple factions.

It even has radio stations you can listen to when you drive.

I'm not saying it'll be exactly like GTA, but from all available info it seems like it will be a combination of GTA, Deus Ex, and Witcher 3.

GTA is not an RPG though. Its a sandbox. Being openworld and having freedom doesnt mean a game is like GTA....

A hybrid sounds good though, but I want an RPG...not GTA. Id be disappointed if I didnt get Deus Ex on roids.

*Sigh*

There's several similarities, which justify saying CP2077 is 'like' GTA. No one is saying they're exactly alike.

And GTA has had RPG elements worked into its formula, like the stats in San Andreas PS2, or choosing who to save at the end of GTA4.

'Deus Ex on roids' is a great description of the gameplay and RPG elements.

This got me more interested than previous previews, but the guy said "rough edges" a number of times without really explaining and the combat doesnt look to be anything special. I also dont have 16 hours to get started on a game lol.

Sure you do. This game isn't going to be beat in a weekend, but it can be spread out over the course of weeks or even a month or two.

Witcher 3 with its expansions is around 100 hours, and many call it the best game of the last decade.

I have a feeling the gameplay will be 'nothing special' at first due to it being an RPG with shooting mechanics as compared to Call of Duty. However as you level up and gain abilities and perks the gameplay will improve.

In the 2019 demo the combat gameplay at the end was awesome, and they said that portion was using a leveled up character.

I dunno. People keep using 'like' [insert big name game], when they see something familiar.
What similarities exactly? Driving around in an open world? Thats like every openworld racing game [or plenty of other genres].
Shooting? Thats like every game that has FPS shooting.
Stripclubs? That an exactly original to games like GTA either.

A combination? Thats like every modern day open world game in a modern setting.
And GTA has had RPG elements worked into its formula, like the stats in San Andreas PS2, or choosing who to save at the end of GTA4.

Terms are muddled, but its generally believed that an RPG is a game where you can make options on how you want to play a game and make decisions [hence 'role play']. GTA's story doesnt allow that. You go there, shoot guys, do an objective, rinse, repeat. Just because you have a moment where you make a choice doesnt mean it has RPG elements BUT I can see how the sandbox portion can be seen as an RPG.

But fuck it, I cba. I wrote this shit, and I cant be asked to delete it.

When you combine all that with what I said earlier... "It has an emphasis on organized crime in which you play as an free agent available to work for multiple factions" yeah, saying its 'like' GTA is very justified.

Farcry 3 has Perk & Crafting systems and no one calls it an RPG, but it is a FPS with RPG elements.

Doesnt look much different then GTA with a bunch of glitches and fancy clothing. Strong pass

This is the Conor/Poirier of vids. Hopefully it won't be Habib/Tony.

This is exactly what it looks like to me and my body is ready for it. I loved the Deus Ex games. I love games with several different approaches\ways to complete a mission. Everything I've seen so far has been great. I'll most likely go stealth as much as I can but guns after that. Melee in FPS games has never been fun to me.

Yep such great settings and music. The story in 1 I thought was really good also. I can't remember 2 really but I still loved the game. I need to go back when I get a chance and play both of them. Just so many games these days.

Mankind divided is so bloody good, but the abrupt ending and the cancellation of the sequel pissed me off. You could play that game without any waypoints etc, its so well constructed. Its easily one of the best games of the last gen. I really hoped we got a similar colour palette to Human Revolution tho.

Square Enix is so out of wack. I wish Eidos actually makes the sequel after that horrendous Avengers game.

It was a great game. The only thing I hate that they did is put all those cops there when you had to go back and forth to your apartment. It was annoying as hell having to sneak through the same place so often. It happens like midway through the game.

It was a nice change of pace imo. I know what you mean, but it added to the narrative and was super immersive. But I dont have many complaints about that game outside of the ending, and the sequel being cancelled.
