I think I pissed off Steve from rakuten now !

I ordered shoes from his site but got a reply (a week later) that it would take a month.
Wrote back a nice msg explaining i needed shoes now and if he could cancel it and I'll just order some other time when time isn't the issue.
Fast foward a month later , I ask him how long for shoes if I order now and I'm getting back terse one word replies along with some messages being ignored.
No problem.
Taking the "Soup Nazi" approach , I figure it best to stay mute and put my order in.
Turned out I fked up. My old shoes are Lonsdale so the size is in UK sizes which is one size bigger than US.
So I ended up converting to japanese from size 11 instead of the size 12 I should have.
To compound matters more , different sites are giving different numbers and I had to fire off another msg , a minute later , revising my size. (he'll probably get all of them together)
So I now I have to cancel my second order with him in 30 days.

I'm thinking he's just gonna say fk it all.

I hope you get the non shiny gold. The laces going on and off would peel up the regular gold.

Steve Mitani told me about that when I asked about the custom headgears some time ago. People said 21 oz was heavy though. If you're a big guy it shouldn't be a problem though.

Meh.....fg 5000 is overkill imo.
Unless you're a pro where even the chance u might get cut means a million out the pocket or a chance on TV , it's just overkill.

I'm glad the 2900 works for you (it's a great hg) but my opinion is the opposite. I work in a job where my having a broken nose and two black eyes wouldn't sit well. Plus, how I see it is that $450 is a whole lot less than having a nose re-set...

I tried on the old style 5000 vs the new style when I last saw Kaz. The new style is FAR comfier and worth the extra outlay. Not just the weight, it seems more protective/form fitting too.

I think they charge it once you place the custom order and they modify it to include shipping or something before they send it out (3 weeks).

A prelim-charge may be done to you card about 3 days after you place order-this charge won't be committed to, it's to make sure you have funds. If you have extra fee's then they'll bill you the correct price sometime afterwards. Then you'll get order cancellation notices of the previous incorrect bill price(the one without the extra fee).

When I had my first custom set I didn't get fully charged until a week before I got my gear.


So I think you have us wondering: What're you getting Blair?

Thanks for the info, I made an order on Thursday but so far nothing has been charged to my card and no email etc. Just wanted to see if that was typical of Rakuten orders.

I haven't ordered anything custom (yet), this order is for a pair of Winning Shooto gloves. Considering getting some custom ones made though as well.
