Current HW DC vs Prime Fedor?

Despite the eyepoke, there is not doubt this win by DC is one of the most impressive wins in MMA history. Defeating a dominant HW champion like Stipe is no easy feat especially in the first round.

How would he fare against the GOAT HW in most people's eyes, Fedor?

FEdor matches up very well with DC, i would pick fedor by ko. Werdum would submit dc as well, overeem vs dc would be amazing to watch. Brock lesnar has no chance vs Dc. Cain beats up dc on the regular.

Younger Fedor was way too fast for old DC. Stipe hit DC so easily, Fedor would kill him.

Current Fedor would lose bad, of course. DC fights smarter and smarter, current Fedor is a sloppy headhunter.

I think the ring vs. cage difference would actually be important in that matchup.

Fedor was quicker with strikes and cutting off angles, but DC is even better in the clinch...that would play to the ring vs. cage difference a fair amount, IMO.

DC said post-fight the aim was not to be that heavy but he was dropping guys in sparring and the coaches were like to stay heavy to keep that KO power.

Turns out it was the right decision.

Stephen Bonnar said guys at AKA have always told him the opposite.

Back to the subject its difficult to call on one hand Fedor would be a little quicker and more explosive with serious power on the inside something dc isn't used to being on the receiving end as he normally has these traits over his opponent.

However Fedor was taken down by Arona multiple times as well as taken down by Coleman and Randleman. Plus almost all of his takedowns are clinch based and he struggle with guys stronger then him in the clinch like HMC, Rodgers and Hunt. Also Lindlland and Hendo both much smaller were able to control him in the clinch. Dc is a monster wrestler as well as in the clinch and likely better then all those guys mentioned.

The more I think about it the more I favor DC. He'd probably grind Fedor down to either a decision or late stoppage maybe by cuts as Fedor was a bleeder.

I think he'd fare well, would be a tough match up, and could certainly win. Cro Cop is probably a tougher match up for Cormier though.

Honestly very hard to judge the grappling as DC has never faced someone who's a real threat off of his back, standing maybe DC's chin is a bit more proven but I think Fedor hit harder, was much faster and better defencively.

Cardio wise as well I think clear advantage to Fedor.

HW Cormier beats prime Fedor. TKO in the 2nd or 3rd would be my guess. Fedor was awesome, but he really didn’t fall off all of as much as people think when he first started fighting in the States. He just started fighting top competition more consistently. Same with Cro Cop. A 240 lb. Jones also probably makes work of prime Fedor too.
