Cult Classics Years Later After Being Squat On Mostly By Everyone

Congo. Yeah, the talking gorilla movie. I usually watch it once a year; fucking love that movie. I think it was panned by critics partially because they used a person inside a gorilla suit instead of CG (this was after Jurassic Park so they expected every big budget film to have equally impressive special effects, I guess). Probably were also some other criticisms, but that sticks out in my mind as the main one. It's a completely ridiculous criticism, IMO; Amy the gorilla was pretty well done. Moved like a gorilla, looked like one, had a fairly expressive face...the fuck do these critics want? It would have looked much worse as CG in those days. Even 10 years after it came out a CG gorilla still would have looked worse than a person in an ape suit.

Fuck the haters. I'm going to watch Congo before the year is over--again.

I always enjoyed this movie and wondered why it was so looked down on. However Roger Ebert gave it 3 out of 4 stars and I believe there were omissions which fans of the book were disappointed at.

Has glitter slipped broke it's neck and found it's way into this category yet?

This movie will always hold a special place in my heart.

I talked online with this chick and we decided it would be the first movie we see together in person.

Once we finally got around to meeting up I think I had my tongue in her pussy less than 10 minutes into the flick.

P.S. - it was a movie rental not a theater experience.

I saw Starship Troopers when I was a kid and thought that shit was badass

I actually enjoyed Starship Troopers the first time I saw it, yeah sure I didnt think it as an artistic film but I was entertained, never got all the hate

they live. in fact quite a few john carpenter films fall into the cult classic category.

Vampires is one of my favorite campy horror movies. Though the camp is a bit understated, which helps.

Same, I've appreciated it for different reasons throughout my life.

Boondock Saints

movie got shit on hard originally (critics at least)

I have always loved the movie. The people I have met, who don't like it, are self-hating, PC-liberal, pussy-assclowns who don't enjoy Denise Richards in her prime, along with starcraft action, prior there even being a starcraft.

And lolz at TS for not realizing this on his first watch througn

That's a very precise description. Sounds like you've been wronged by an ex lover.

Vampire$ was the shit.

Not even sure why they added the dollar sign. Woods was great, totally hammed it up. Talked about the vampires not being Euro trash. Turned out the Vamp was Euro trash.

lol.

Shawshank director was in it too.

Dark City
Thirteenth Floor

Dark city is great. Many of the same themes as the matrix which came out a little afterwards. I've never really heard ppl talk about it but I've seen Dark City 3 times. Was more enjoyable each time

Add me to the list please. This was the first rated R movie I saw in theaters. My mother dropped my 7 year old sister along me off when I was 12 to see it. Funny how the theaters didn't make my mom even purchase a ticket. She just told the ticket seller the lowdown and dipped out. Starship Troopers will have a special place in my memories and Neal Patrick Harris's part in Starship Troopers truly, truly changed my life. He showed those Starship Troopers that those bugs could be destroyed.

Me too. Still love that movie. The whole breasts thing certainly didn't hurt my appreciation of the film as a 10 year old..... or as an adult

Correct on all points.
