Starship Troopers.

Mostly panned and misunderstood. I thought it was straight up schlock (basically being a snob about it) back then but over the years I realized this borderline schlock, camp, gore infested social commentary/satire was the most fun alien insect/arthropod invasion movie - aside from Edge of Tomorrow - I'll ever watch.

And clearly has the original premise of showing intermittent news coverage (of impending Alien invasion) via interactive TV/internet news footage in a meta sort of a way which Edge of Tomorrow, Captain America borrowed liberally among others - done in the style of circa 1940's/WWII news medium.

The deliberately stilted and earnest acting all around was ingenious which flew over my head then.

Plenty of cult classics that was originally panned. What's your fav?

Starship Troopers, and the people I've met that liked it suck.

Cult Classics that did shitty in the Box office but got a following later:

Willy Wonka And The Chocolate Factory

Big Trouble In Little China

Office Space

Fight Club

Blade Runner

The Big Lebowski

Edge of Tomorrow is shit. I liked the original ending much better.

Shawshank Redemption tank at the box office but once it hit VHS became a instant cult classic

Rocky Horror.

Cult classics don't really get shit on at first... usually they just go unnoticed until much later

they live. in fact quite a few john carpenter films fall into the cult classic category.

Saw this a couple months ago I was dying. Movie is great. I also agree starship troppers is amazing.

It's got great replay value as well. A lot of people I know have never even heard of it. It'll probably get lost in the shuffle and never become a true 'cult classic' but it's hard to find someone who didn't like it who has seen it.

ST was a kick ass movie.

Yea I had already seen it years ago when it first came out but someone mentioned it in another thread so I decided to add it to my media server. The way he carried that radio all over the place had me crying almost every single time. Apparently he had some SNL skit but I never saw it because SNL is almost never funny. To me it's just not worth watching because only like one skit will be funny.

I think Never Back Down is going to get more love down the road. Its actually pretty decent. I liked it more than Warrior and WAY more than Red Belt.

Never back down might be the best MMA movie but that's not saying much lol.
I hated Warrior but it never had a real shot with me because of it being an MMA movie.

Haha yea, so many little gems. One of the funniest movies I have seen in the last decade for sure.
