In all of the articles I have read, they mention 'diplomats and family members' have been attacked.

Not one of these articles have clarified if children of US personel have been attacked during these...well...attacks.

Our folks assigned abroad (and their spouses) know what they are getting into. They understand the risks. One article interviewed a former US diplomat assigned to Havana and he discussed the harassment and surveillance they had to deal with 24/7. However, it's a whole new ball game if a child is being attacked during these incidences.

Has anyone in the press asked the White House or the State Department the ages of those that have been affected by the attacks?
