Finance/Crypto Crypto Megathread v38 - BTC 100k watch. You got lucky and it's just a bubble!

This is so real. I'm not even going to be one of those "there will be signs" bros. Matter of fact, if I end up actually making real money from my ventures, just to sway public opinion of where I stand financially, I'm still gonna hit people up to borrow money, annoy the shit out of them with it, and make sure they never come to me about money unless it is to pay back the money I borrowed, which will already be on deck.

Quick derail.

I saw this video by Bodycount (Ice-T's metal band) and I took it to heart.

After I got out of the slammer and got a job at Costco, I'd made a social media post just thanking whatever is out there for the blessing of having a job where I make decent money, and I got like 3 or 4 messages from people thinking that meant I was loaded, begging for money. I had to tell them that I don't actually make big money, it just seems like I do bc every job I had prior was shit. I learned a ton from that single situation, just simply never bring up money at all if people know who you are

In 2011, I was moving from Louisiana to Arizona, speeding with some painkillers, got arrested, probation. I dipped on my probation and went on the run for around 5 years, went on many adventures that I could truly write a book about, and ultimately decided that I'd like to just get past it and turned myself in. I received 12 years as a first time offender, Texas, did about 2 1/2 on it, covid made shit weird and caused a log jam in the system and bc I was a nonviolent offender I made parole my first time up. Have now been out for about 4 1/2 years, and life is good.

And definitely don’t post about money on social media. I know of a guy who flashed some cash he got from a settlement on socials…he got robbed and killed that same night. Wasn’t even a life-changing amount, might have been 5k but people see cash on social and immediately imagine fairy tales.

Edit: to clarify, dude was killed by accident during the robbery, wasn’t intended.

Yeah, fuck that. I don't even like people knowing I'm at any specific place at any specific time, unless I'm checking into "NYC" or "Atlanta" some shit, something big and generalized. I've wrestled with getting rid of social media altogether, but there are people and conversations that I'd always want to have access to, and people all seem to have a specific one they use, so I'm doomed. I'd really like to not have a smart phone, tbh. I miss the days of calling people back bc I wasn't home and that was that

I’m with you. In fact, I don’t have any social media anymore and when people send me stuff to look at, I tell them I don’t have an account so I can’t see it. I use whatsapp, etc. to communicate 1-1. So it’s possible.

The downside is that people feel disconnected from you, especially if you’re physically far, cause they are used to seeing everyone post their “best life” on socials. But idgaf and that way with people who really care, we’ll find a way to actually speak through the apps. In fact, sending voice messages is really good. It’s like the old nextel walkie-talkie days.

And I know a guy that was dumb enough during the previous bull run to post screen shots of his coinbase portfolio, bragging about his gains. Shortly after he was phone sim hacked and his entire account was drained.
