International Creator of ‘Father Ted’ arrested by 5 armed cops upon landing in the UK over social media posts

He should identify as a "woman" to go to the women's prison. If it worked for that Nazi guy, it will work for him too.

Funnily arresting someone for a tweet is far more offensive to a reasonable person than anything he could've posted. I wonder if the cops doing this have any sense of shame or are they too dead inside to care

The rationalize it the way all the communist gulag police did - the forces that created the situation where i have to arrest this dude are so overwhelming that a person cannot possibly do anything meaningful to stop it, therefore the hand that does the arrest is incidental.

It’s all just a tactic to scare people not to speak out, I reckon.

They show how cowardly they are by their reluctance to arrest JK Rowling. She’s far more explicit in her criticism of trans people than that guy - but imagine the global outrage if she was put in cuffs.

The UK is representative of what it would be like if reddit mods ran a country. It's pure insanity.
The joke is that so many people here look down on the USA and act like we are so much more civilised than them because Trump deported a few people or something, when we are literally jailing people for tweets.

The joke could soon be on our government instead though because 'Reform' (a relatively right wing party) is topping the polls due to being the only option for people who are against this madness. Even people who'd never vote right wing / conservative are being pushed to the extremes as people have had enough and it's the only option.

This article is a really interesting and *gasp* nuanced look at the current views and some of the issues the police are facing in terms of lack of clarity over what is and isn't an offence.

I strongly recommend people read it.

It's something the government need to look at and tackle. I think you'll agree with some stuff and disagree with others.

It's a shame OP never produces nuanced material or articles but yeah. Whatever.

Is it just me or is it insane that this is even an issue in 2025??

Which parts are interesting and which parts are nuanced?

Seriously?

So the fact that the Met Police Commissioner is saying:

"I don't believe we should be policing toxic culture wars debates and officers are currently in an impossible position."

"I have offered to provide suggestions to the Home Office on where the law and policy should be clarified."

is of no interest to you?

Fair enough if you think it should already be clarified and a non-issue, but it isn't a non-issue, so if you want to discuss the issue, it's best to find out who is taking what side. It seems even the people doing this don't want to do so and can see it isn't the right path.

I'm getting the feeling some people just want something to mock rather than engage with. Again, whatever.

Most British police are firmly in, I-was-only-following-orders! mode now.

The stupid bastards have obviously forgotten how things worked out for the last bunch of twats who tried to use that excuse...

The same Met Commissioner who assaulted a reporter on live TV because he asked him about Two Tier policing, and refused to apologise for it?

That cunt couldn't lie straight in bed.

Yep, same guy.

So if a guy like that is under such pressure to speak out against the government and the laws his police officers have to follow, that would suggest the strength of feeling is immense.

His officers didn't follow the law in this case. No arrestable offence was committed. If he had the slightest shred of integrity, he'd sack the officers and resign from his position immediately. Instead, he'll keep kissing Starmer's arse while offering excuses for why the police service he commands is so utterly shit at it's job.

If that article makes you feel warm inside, good for you. I just read a lot of hot air and no substance

It's substance to discuss if you want to.

Any additional substance has to beat "OMG BRITAIN BAD" which is what the dorky teenage TS foreign kid delivers.

Why are so angry and uptight all the time.

That article says nothing and will do nothing.

Don't listen to what the mouth is saying, watch watch the hands are doing
