Created a MMA fight Picker GPT

I've gotten pretty good at that (with other tasks)- there definitely are tricks in the way you word your commands, in particular with a nuanced question. ChatGTP is not always good with those, so you have to continue to reframe you question until Chat clicks with your angle. I find that conversing with it like another human is what gets the most accurate results (argue with it when it is giving you faulty answers and it will get to the right answer).

You always have to clarify the weighting of listed factors because the AI has a tendency to use the 'unbiased' part of the program to fallaciously discuss all factors as equal even when that is far from the actual case.

Anyway, just a few of my own observations. That would be crazy if AI could make better picks than any group of humans. It's seeing the future, which is kind of like Skynet. Someone call Sarah. :eek:

Numbers > visuals

MMAth is just as valid as tape study and less prone to bad judgement calls.

Right, the AI is programmed with neutrality, which the human brain clearly isn't. AI is the new way to get around human biases.

'MMAth' on Sherdog has traditionally meant a dumb way to rationalize fights using fight finder with no understanding of context (Joe beat Larry, therefore John can beat Larry because of how well he did against Stu, you've seen these posts for sure). The AI is using an evaluative consideration of many factors and integrating them in a way that is beyond what the human brain can do. The more user input it gets, the more factors it can consider, so we are nowhere near the ceiling of this. They might even get people who are in the fighter's lives to be spies- reporting to the AI that they were going around looking shook the week before the fight, lol. The more data the better.

I assume it gathers all its info from the internet which kind of sucks. Cuz it would’ve been cool to test on fights over the last year where you knew the outcome. I’m skeptical and believe this will end up just like everything else. Monkey throwing darts. The only successful chatgpt prognosticator is Nancy Pelosi.
 
@TSaL any chance you can post the predictions for UFC 299 please?

You could actually do that kind of comparison by giving Chat a command to disregard the results of their fight. ChatGTP has already shown amazing predictive abilities in other areas, so there is nothing terribly surprising about it being able to pick better in MMA fights than people if that turns out to be true. There is a long way to go to maximize this; it's not like we are near the apex or anything. AI is a fairly new tech in terms of the level of abilities it now has and will gain in the future. It is already past monkeys throwing darts by a long shot, and already is like nothing else.
