Crazy Optical Illusions Thread

I've mastered the ballerina. Just look at her raised leg (at knee level) and visualize her only doing a quarter turn back and forth. Once you are ready to make her change direction, just 'follow her leg though' that direction (kind of like your spinning her around with your eyes).

She will then change direction at will.

I used to have these as wallpapers at my work pc to keep pesky staring people away :icon_lol:

For me if the dancer is spinning one way I can do math problems in my head and she will switch directions. Then I can try to picture her as a certain color to get her to change to the other direction.

Neat. The math problem thing works for switching in one direction, but the color solution isn't working for me.

I've been trying for a day and a half to get the dancer to switch directions and she won't.

This is a big troll job meant to drive me crazy isn't it?

Try rapidly blinking at different speeds and forcing her to go the other way with your imagination. Worked for me.

Thank you, that worked!

I saw the video posted earlier, but didn't see how it was any type of "solution"...nobody told me to cover one up and then look at the original.

Glad it works for everyone.

Sometimes the train appears to be coming out of the tunnel and other times it seems to be going in the tunnel.

This one's really cool. I can make it go backwards or forwards and it feels like I'm actually physically manipulating something. It does have a tendency to come out of the tunnel when I'm trying to push it back in though, and that takes a bit of effort.

The chick goes both ways.

Lol.

Here's a suggestion for those who can't get it to switch,

Find a way to pause the gif (on an iPad gifs will pause while you scroll, so just scroll slowly up or down). Then focus on one of her legs. If it's her right leg, concentrate until it becomes her left, and vice versa. Then visualise her rotating in the opposite direction to how she habitually spins. Then let the gif run again.

It probably won't look exactly how you visualised it (I think she's facing slightly upwards when spinning one way, and slightly down when rotating the other) so it can catch you out as soon as it starts up again, but it's the best way I've found of convincing my brain to see her go the other way.
