Did you end up having covid? I remember you saying you couldn't taste and was going to get tested. How do you think Kenney has handled this? I think all things considered he's done a decent job. Just bad optics fighting with doctors and nurses during a pandemic.
Yeah, I tested positive near the end of November. Aside from the lack of taste and mild headache for two days I had no symptoms. Then again I'm a fairly healthy guy with a decent immune system due to my work and lifestyle.

I think Kenney did the best he could. He's trying to walk the fine line between not tanking the economy and keeping people safe. Despite the negative press Alberta gets we're not that bad off. Some of that is due to the urban sprawl people used to bitch about, without a doubt, but regardless he could have just went with a one sided approach.

As for doctors and nurses? I get it and understand their concerns. If this virus was deadlier I'd probably side with a single minded, physical health focus at all costs approach. As is we can't fuck our future if the possibility of isolating thsoe most vulnerable is an option.

You're an Albertan, correct? How are things in your area?

Ironical about these new so called State of Emergency arent they the same rules we had being following for the past 9/10 months now? the doing workout part is a bit ironic when knowing all the gyms are closed. I guess walking or running etc counts i suppose.

I hope the lockdowns end so gyms can open again. I dont mind wearing a mask while in gym. This cant continue forever. I am sure what the politicians are doing is probably violating our charter of rights.

Well, I don't think we've been in a perpetual lockdown. Places were opening up with restrictions for a while. Then the big "lockdown" came a few weeks ago, which forced a lot of places to go back to curbside pickups, and whatnot. Then this whole "State of Emergency" came down, which left everyone wondering "Weren't we already doing this? What's the difference?". We haven't exactly received an answer on that. Just a lot of talk about "enforcement", which cops then turned around and said "We don't really know what we're supposed to be enforcing, so keep on keeping on. We can't really do anything differently."

The whole thing just leaves everyone going "WTF?".

been doing this for 15 or so years...... it's amazing.

car service once a year

lower car insurance prices

gas once a month

car forever low milage, my 2006? minivan has like 70K miles, and being a toyota........ it'll last me forever, however that cybertruck....

PJ's all day long

walk kids to school

downside is that if I were young, horny, and single, it would totally suck. It's near a year now, without fucking, I'de be on suicide watch, rage against the machine, peacefully protesting just to get some tail.

lmao, I envy you man. It definitely is amazing. For all the reasons you mention. But it’ll only be temporary for me :(. I hear you on the tail...but I had so much of it from about 18-30 that I’m pretty much set for life even if I don’t ever get it again haha.

Lockdowns do work.

Undoubtedly.

This is a VIRUS; it doesn't move by itself. If people don't move, it doesn't move. Then it dies. Period. It's not magic.

The question then becomes how hardcore are we doing lockdowns, and at what point is it pointless?

Half-assed lockdowns are probably pointless.

US and Europe had half-assed lockdowns for months. It's like a student proclaiming studying is useless after reading the textbook for 10 minutes before a test.

Places that did hard lockdown, universal mask wearing, effective entry screening and rapid contact tracing are doing significantly better. Vietnam, Laos, Cambodia, Thailand, Australian, Taiwan, New Zealand, China and South Korea all crushed their first and second wave. They didn't relax the lockdown until at least a week had passed after daily new cases had gone to zero. In North America and Europe, we relax the lockdown as soon as cases start to trend down. Here we are 11 months later wondering why we're still neck-deep in shit.

Half assed lockdowns are worse than NO lockdown. Because u drive people indoors together in an unregulated forum.

This is why CA is in such bad shape

Yup. I'm an RN in Edmonton. Things are pretty bad in my field. Work is getting hammered with covid at the moment. I'm only against lockdowns if the healthcare system is on the verge of collapse (which we were about a month ago), but that's mainly because I've seen both sides of this thing. People dying from covid-19 and people committing suicide due to losing their jobs because of lockdowns. I don't blame Kenney, he's done all he can. He's balancing on a tightrope and there's no pleasing anybody. The dude looks like he could use a hug TBH.

You mean like how China did it? you know locking people heavily inside their homes? you honestly think that the western countries will follow what Chinese gov did during their lockdown's? i mean still dont trust them when it comes to their data numbers coming out.

I use the same argument when I say Democratic Socialism wont work in the U.S. after people try to explain how "well" it works in Norway

Only your argument was nonsensical and your links to back up your opinion had nothing to do with the subject.

Other than that you did fine though.

LOL @ believing China stopped the pandemic and that their death total is less than Canada's.

You gotta be extra special to believe that. They're laughing their asses off, as they get on with it with no fucks given and boosting their economy, while the rest of us fret over it.

Believe what you want.

I have Chinese immigrant friends with family across China and they all say the same thing. It happened, they freeze for a few weeks, and it went away. If it pops up again they lock that region down tight, test and trace, and life goes on.

I sincerely doubt they'd have any reason to lie. Maybe there's hidden truth and mass graves, I have no idea, but they believe what they're saying.

Whats your favorite Democratic Socialist country?

I could write it in bubble letters; it would still be the truth.

Viruses do not move independently of carriers. If carriers stop moving, viruses stop spreading.

Yeah this state of Emergency is pointless, feels more like some publicity stunt. I work at 8pm, the roads are just as full as they have been before the emergency call. All the big players (big box stores) are business as usual, with the only change being more jobs being shut down (construction etc)

Believe what you want.

I will. If you believe China is some miracle country that had less deaths from COVID than Canada, with a population of over a billion, you go right ahead and believe that. I'll just laugh.

Well, you're a Trump supporter, which suggests you'll believe anything.
